England vs Australia Prediction – Rugby League Ashes Game 2
30/10/2025|SB Staff|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips
Australia have the chance to seal the Rugby League Ashes after just two matches when they head to Liverpool to take on England in Game 2 of the series.
A Reece Walsh masterclass at Wembley helped the Kangaroos bounce their archrivals 26-6 in front of over 60,000 fans.
With national pride on the line and another bumper crowd anticipated at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday, don’t expect the Poms to go quietly.
Can they turn the tide, quell Australia’s wealth of attacking talent, while getting the best of their own offensive weapons?
Most importantly, can they save the series and force a decider down in Leeds in roughly a fortnight’s time?
For all the latest team news, analysis, odds, and betting tips ahead of this second Rugby League Ashes Test, check out our England vs Australia predictions below.
England vs Australia Game 2 Prediction and Betting Tips
Head-to-Head Prediction
One quick look at the H2H odds will tell you everything you need to know about how punters and pundits feel about the Poms chances here.
At the time of writing, England are paying well over 5.00 to win, a sizeable sum when you consider they are playing at home.
Still, when you review the tape from the opening Test, it doesn’t come as a surprise. It was all one-way Australian traffic from the off, with a late consolation try from Daryl Clark in the 75th minute the only thing England ended up with to show for all their efforts.
This was supposed to be one of the best English teams assembled in a while, one designed to push the all-conquering Kangaroos to the limit. Can they get their act together and force a decider?
We highly doubt it, although we are fairly sure we will see one or two new combinations in the host's spine. Namely the inclusion of recent convert AJ Brimson, who was overlooked for the starting fullback role in Game 1.
The big news in the Kangaroos camp is that they will have a new captain for this clash, with usual skipper Isaah Yeo forced to sit out under concussion protocols.
That means Melbourne Storm skipper Harry Grant will get the honour of leading out the Kangaroos for the first time and we’re also tipping him to lead them to victory too.
Betting tip: Australia.
First Tryscorer Prediction
It’s almost impossible to watch, talk about or tip anyone else at the moment. Rugby League’s ultimate entertainer has taken his show on tour.
On his international debut, Brisbane’s premiership hero Reece Walsh bookended the try scoring in the opening Test at Wembley and is our tip to be the first try scorer in Game 2.
Betting tip: Reece Walsh.
England vs Australia Anytime Tryscorer Betting Tips
Mark Nawaqanitawase
Even though he couldn’t find his way onto the scoreboard on his Test debut, we’re doubling down on the NRL’s reigning leading try scorer.
As teams up and down Aus found out last season, you can only keep Mark Nawaqanitawase for so long and we reckon the Poms are about to learn the exact same lesson.
Dom Young
After failing to find him out wide in the first Test, surely England take to the skies and kick to high-flying winger Dom Young as much as possible this time around.
Should they execute this game plan and manage to put it on a dime for big Dom, he’s odds on in our book to grab himself a meat pie at some point here.
Angus Crichton
One of two Kangaroos to cross for a double at Wembley, Angus Crichton has always had a penchant for scoring tries, despite playing in the forwards.
Few can hit a hole and run a line like the Roosters second-rower and we’re tipping his appetite for four-pointers to continue here.
