With both of these teams’ seasons close to being written off, it will be desperation stakes when the Parramatta Eels host the Gold Coast Titans at CommBank Stadium on Sunday night.

The Eels had the bye last week after losing 30-12 to the Bulldogs on the King’s Birthday. Meanwhile, the Titans returned to the winners list in style with an impressive 28-8 upset over Manly, but they remain rooted to the bottom of the ladder, behind Parramatta only on points difference.

The Eels will have to line up with a new halves pairing of Joash Papalii and Dean Hawkins as Dylan Brown is suspended and Mitch Moses out with a calf injury.

Wiremu Greig joins the bench for his first game of the season. Brian Kelly has been dropped for the Titans as Jojo Fifita returns from injury. He will be joined by Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Moeaki Fotuaika, who both appear set to back up from helping Queensland win State of Origin Game II.

Below are the full are the team lists for this one, along with betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer, and over/under markets. This is our Eels vs Titans prediction.

Eels vs Titans Teams

Parramatta Eels Team List

1. Isaiah Iongi

2. Zac Lomax

3.
Eels vs Titans Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The final game of NRL round 16 is a good old-fashioned battle of the basement. Wooden spooners-elect Parramatta and the Gold Coast will duke it out at CommBank Stadium as both sides scramble to avoid that dreaded kitchen utensil.

The Eels and NSW have been dealt a major blow with Mitchell Moses suffering yet another injury this season. To make matters worse, his halves partner in crime, Dylan Brown is also out due to suspension.

We all know how the Eels fare without their million-dollar man and the Titans are coming off a rare win, impressively seeing off the Sea Eagles 28-8 last time out.

All things considered, the omission of Moses has proved to be something the Eels seem unable to deal with time and time again, so we’re taking the Titans in what should be an absolute scrap.

Betting tip: Gold Coast Titans.

First Try Scorer Prediction

While we are tipping them to ultimately lose the match, we like one of Parramatta’s players to be the first to get on the scoreboard in this one.

Blue and Gold winger Josh Addo-Carr has scored at least one try in each of his last six appearances against Gold Coast and is a prime candidate to be the first man over the tryline here.

Betting tip: Josh Addo-Carr.

Over/Under Prediction

When you consider that each of Parramatta's last six matches have gone under the total match points line and the fact that key attacking weapons Mitchell Moses and Dylan Brown will be MIA, it becomes hard to see where all the points will come from in this one.

Yes, the Titans have some attacking weapons, but their punch may be offset by the lack of home ground advantage. This one has low scoring scrap written all over it.

Betting tip: Under total match points.
