Parramatta Eels vs North Queensland Cowboys Prediction – Round 23 2025

08/08/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

With both their seasons officially over, there’s only pride to play for here as the Paramatta Eels host the North Queensland Cowboys at CommBank Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Eels fell short last week but their improvement was evident, losing 16-10 to a Storm side that posted 56 points on them at the start of the season. The Cowboys’ poor form in Sydney was exposed again last week, allowing the Sharks to rush out to a 26-0 lead before it finished up 32-12.

Parramatta welcomes back Kelma Tuilagi from suspension and has promoted Dylan Walker to lock, while Jordan Samrani replaces the injured Sean Russell in the centres.

The Cowboys receive a boost with the returns of Jason Taumalolo, Jake Clifford, Viliami Vailea and Thomas Mikaele, prompting several positional changes including Zac Laybutt to the wing and Jaxon Purdue to the centres.

Eels vs Cowboys Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The final game of NRL round 23 sees the Parramatta Eels welcome the North Queensland Cowboys to CommBank Stadium on Sunday arvo.

Two teams with nothing but pride to play for, this one is a good old fashioned dead rubber.

To be honest, the Eels have impressed us more than the Cows in recent times, thanks to the return of Mitchell Moses. After upsetting the Broncos, they nearly did the same to the Storm last week.

We like them here against a North Queensland side coming off a 32-12 defeat to the Sharks.

Betting tip: Parramatta Eels.

First Tryscorer Prediction

The Flying Foxx simply loves playing at home about the Cowboys. Addo-Carr has scored a try in each of his last three home appearances against North Queensland, and we fancy him to be the first one over the tryline on Sunday.

Betting tip: Josh Addo-Carr.

Over/Under Prediction

Five of Parramatta's last six matches at CommBank Stadium have gone under the total match points line.

Betting tip: Under total match points (48.5).

Line Prediction

The home team has covered the line in each of North Queensland's last five matches.

Betting tip: Parramatta Eels (-4.5).
