St George Illawarra Dragons vs Wests Tigers Prediction – Round 18 2026
02/07/2026|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & TipsDesperate to get back on the winners list, the Wests Tigers will visit the St. George Illawarra Dragons at Jubilee Stadium on Saturday night.
After raising hopes of a first finals appearance in 15 years, the Tigers have since lost six of their past eight matches. They led Newcastle 6-0 at half-time before eventually going down 12-6 last week.
Elsewhere, the Dragons squandered a half-time lead in a 24-16 loss to the Raiders last weekend, leaving them still in search of a second win in 2026.
Dean Young has named an unchanged side, but Wests will be without Jarome Luai, who is rested after delayed concussion symptoms, with Jock Madden replacing him.
Heamasi Makasini starts at centre for Taylan May, while Alex Twal is back in a major boost to the forward pack. The Tigers defeated the Dragons 34-28 in their lone meeting last season.

Dragons vs Tigers Prediction and Betting Tips
Head-to-Head Prediction
At least they got one. That all elusive second win of the season continues to elude St George, as they start another unenviable losing streak.
Their loss to fellow cellar dwellers Canberra on the weekend was their third in a row and their 14th for the season.
They’re still very much in the “do no tip” bucket, despite coming up against a Tigers side here who have lost three on the trot themselves.
Despite being condemned to a hat-trick of Ls last start by the Knights, they defended with gusto away from home and only lost by six points in the end.
We are tipping the Tigers to take plenty of positives from that showing and be the ones to return to the winner’s circle out of these two.
Betting tip: Wests Tigers.
First Try Scorer Prediction
The man who can seemingly play anywhere, Adam Doueihi has been a revolution for the Tigers this season.
Overcoming another career threatening injury, Doueihi returned to the field in 2026 and has quickly asserted himself as Wests unheralded hero.
He also loves to kick a team when they’re down and has scored at least one try in four of his last five appearances against teams on a losing streak. He’s our tip for first try scorer in this one.
Betting tip: Adam Doueihi.
Over/Under Prediction
Five of St. George Illawarra's last six matches have gone under the total match points line.
Betting tip: Under (47.5) total match points.
Line Prediction
St. George Illawarra has failed to cover the line in each of their last eight home matches.
Betting tip: Tigers (-4.5) line.
