St George Illawarra Dragons vs Cronulla Sharks Prediction – Round 23 2025

07/08/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

Fresh off arguably their best win of the season, the St. George Illawarra Dragons will be out to take another big scalp and keep their faint finals dream alive when they welcome the Cronulla Sharks at Jubilee Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

This Southern Shire rivalry has been owned by the Sharks in recent times. They’ve won 10 straight over their neighbours and certainly come into this contest in better form having won four straight, the last of which was a comfortable 32-12 victory over the Cowboys.

The Dragons’ 18-12 upset of the table topping Raiders snapped a four-match losing streak but any further slip up will see them extend their streak without a final’s appearance to seven seasons.

Minimal movement in both team lists, with the hosts unchanged as they look to carry momentum into this one, while just one for the Sharks, with Toby Rudolf returning to replace the suspended Jesse Colquhoun on the bench.

Dragons vs Sharks Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Sharks have really started circling in recent weeks and are quickly becoming one of the form teams of the competition.

It hasn’t been all that pretty, but they’ve managed to grind out four wins in a row to launch themselves into the eight.

They’ll be looking to sure up their position in the finals places when they head to Jubilee Stadium to face a Dragons side coming off a big result.

The Red V ended the first-placed Raiders winning streak one game short of a perfect 10 and now they’ll want to deny Cronulla hitting the five-for.

This one has grind written all over it, but we’re swimming with the Sharks here, they’ve just shown in recent weeks they are ready to roll their sleeves up and get their fins dirty when required.

Betting tip: Cronulla Sharks.

First Tryscorer Prediction

Ronaldo Mulitalo has scored a try in each of Cronulla's last three matches as an away favourite.

That’s why we’re backing him to be the first one over when they head to Jubilee Stadium to pay the Dragons a visit.

Betting tip: Ronaldo Mulitalo.
