A couple of familiar faces will be waiting for the Rabbitohs at WIN Stadium on Saturday afternoon when they take on the Dragons.

Lachlan Ilias and Damien Cook will line up against their former employers, with this in particular a big moment for the latter, who spent nearly a decade at the Cardinal and Myrtle.

Will the dynamic dummy half come back to haunt his old side? Or can the Bunnies keep their former favourite son at bay and record two wins on the bounce to start the season?

Let’s find out! It’s time to have a look at how both these sides will line up, as well as some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer and over/under markets. This is our Dragons vs Rabbitohs prediction and preview.

Dragons vs Rabbitohs Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Bunnies failed to convince us they are going to be a threat this year, despite seeing off the Dolphins last week.

The Phins were severely undermanned, and they only managed to just hold on to a two-point win at home.

We like the Dragons to pick up their first win of the season here, playing at home. They were brave in their defeat to the Bulldogs and have more attacking weapons at their disposal right now than Souths.

They’re also the favourites in this market at the time of writing, which is never a bad thing.

Betting tip: St George Illawarra Dragons.

First Try Scorer Prediction

After last week’s action, a very obvious candidate has emerged for this market in our opinion.

Young Dragons’ winger Christian Tuipulotu crossed for a hat-trick last week in his side’s defeat to the Bulldogs.

While his first try was three minutes too late to be the first of that contest, backing him to find the line first here seems like a smart play.

Betting tip: Christian Tuipulotu.

Over/Under Prediction

The over/under line is set at +51.5 points here and we are inclined to back the under. Souths with their many injuries to their more attacking-minded troops will have to adopt an old school siege mentality for the foreseeable future.

That means they’ll be looking to grind out results off their back of resolute line defence and a heightened work-rate. Whether or not this will yield the results they so desperately crave is another question, but it should be enough to quell the flow of points here.

Betting tip: Under total match points.
