Round 13 of the 2025 NRL season kicks off with a clash between two sides desperate to find consistency, as the St George Illawarra Dragons host the Newcastle Knights at Jubilee Stadium.

After the first State of Origin game, both teams will welcome back key personnel in a game that could shape their momentum heading into the second half of the season.

The Knights are hoping to build on their upset win over Penrith, while the Dragons aim to capitalise an opportunity to win at home.

Will the Red V take advantage at home, or can the Knights revive a campaign that’s struggled for life?

Here’s how the Dragons and Knights line up for this clash, as well as some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer, and over/under markets. This is our Dragons vs Knights prediction.

Dragons vs Knights Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

After the Origin frenzy, the NRL returns on Friday with the Dragons taking on the Knights.

Both teams will have Origin players returning for this matchup.

In terms of the result, the Knights won against an under strength Penrith side last round, and against the Dragons, they have won the last two clashes when they met. However with almost a full strength Dragons side with troops back from Origin, we expect the Dragons to get one up on the Knights this time around.

Betting tip: St George Illawarra Dragons

First Try Scorer Prediction

Out of their last five meetings, when the Newcastle Knights have won their matches against the Dragons, a spine member or a forward scores first in the game.

The Dragons in the same stretch of their meetings with Newcastle had a spine member and one of their opposing backline players scored first.

When Newcastle scored their 25 points against the Panthers, the Dylan Lucas hat-trick special all happened on their left edge. The only try conceded by the Knights was on their left edge.

Considering those facts, both teams are not known for their quality defence, and with a depleted left edge for Newcastle without Bradman Best and Greg Marzhew, we expect the speedster on Dragons’ right wing to score first.

Betting tip: Tyrell Sloan first try scorer.

Over/Under Prediction

Both teams when they are firing can score points quickly and break open the game.

The Dragons are coming off a performance where they scored 30 points and the Knights have scored 25.

With this matchup in mind, there has been a struggle for points for both sides this season. The Knights average the second least of points scored per game, with the Dragons only ahead of them by six points on average.

On the road, the Knights have gone under the total match points line in their last seven road trips, and that’s where we expect the game to head.

Betting tip: Under total match points
