St George Illawarra Dragons vs The Dolphins Prediction – Round 22 2026

29/07/2026|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

The St. George Illawarra Dragons and Dolphins will meet at WIN Stadium to kick off a Friday night double-header.

The Dragons have struggled all year, winning just two of their 18 matches, most recently falling 38-18 to the Titans on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins enter the clash fresh from the bye after an impressive 36-16 victory over the Cowboys the week prior.

They sit in fifth spot on the ladder entering the round, two points behind the fourth-placed Sharks and four points ahead of the ninth-placed Bulldogs.

Dean Young has named the same starting side that went down last weekend. Tevita Naufahu makes way as Jack Bostock comes back into Kristian Woolf’s side.

Jake Averillo and Ray Stone join the extended bench while star half Isaiya Katoa is named in the reserves.

The Dolphins dominated the Dragons 56-6 when these sides met last season, will we see a similar scoreline here?

Dragons vs Dolphins Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Still stuck on just two wins, St George will go looking for that all elusive third victory when they welcome the fully rested Phins to Win Stadium on Friday night.

A bright start against the Titans quickly gave way to loss number 16 of the season for the Dragons as they continue to count down the days until the curtain finally comes down on this catastrophic campaign.

The Dolphins meanwhile had the week off thanks to the bye and will be hoping to capitalise on the Red V’s misfortunes as they look to stay in the race for an all-important top four spot.

Betting tip: The Dolphins

First Try Scorer Prediction

Since returning from his long injury lay off, Dolphins’ winger Jack Bostock has gone from strength to strength.

He’s hit top form for the Phins, earned a NSW Blues call up and has scored at least one try in each of the Dolphins' last four away matches against opponents that were ranked in the bottom four.

That’s a lot of ticks in the plus column and as a result he’s going into our bet slip here as first try scorer.

Betting tip: Jack Bostock

Over/Under Prediction

Each of St. George Illawarra's last nine night matches have gone under the total match points line.

Betting tip: Under (48.5) total match points

Line Prediction

The Dolphins have covered the line in each of their last eight night matches.

Betting tip: Dolphins (-12.5) line
