Canterbury Bulldogs vs Brisbane Broncos Prediction – Round 18 2025
02/07/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips
The Broncos will be looking to make it four on the spin and to put their name right back in the top four conversation when they head down to Sydney to take on the Bulldogs on Friday night.

The looming shadow of the State of Origin decider has thrown a cat among the pigeons in terms of player availability here.

Both sides are set to be without a number of key men, so squad depth will take centre stage in deciding this one.

If we roll the clock back a couple of months to the last time these two sides faced off, it played out in a way few could have anticipated.

The Bulldogs rocked up to Suncorp Stadium in the pouring rain as the only undefeated team in the league and left 80 minutes later victims of a 24-point beatdown.

Things are a little different this time around. The Doggies have finally been usurped from top spot on the ladder and are entering this game off a loss.

Meanwhile, Brisbane roll into town on a three-game winning streak and no doubt sense blood in the water.

Can the Broncos make it four on the bounce? Or will the Doggies return to winning ways at home?

Here is how we think both these sides will line up for this one, along with some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer, and over/under markets. This is our Bulldogs vs Broncos prediction.

Bulldogs vs Broncos Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

A tantalising clash on paper, but one that will not be an accurate representation of where both sides are truly at.

Both the Bulldogs and the Broncos are two of the teams who have been hit hardest by the call to arms that is State of Origin.

Stephen Crichton, Max King, Jacob Kiraz, and Kurt Mann have all been called from the kennel, while Payne Haas, Gehamat Shibasaki, Pat Carrigan and Reece Walsh have been summoned from the stable.

The final team lists will make this one a bit easier to tip. But as things stand, the Broncos have been hit just a little harder in the key position for us and the Bulldogs also have the advantage of being at home for this one. We’re taking them by a nose.

Betting tip: Canterbury Bulldogs.

First Try Scorer Prediction

Although things have ultimately turned sour for Selwyn at his beloved Broncos (his long-rumoured exit was confirmed this week), he’ll no doubt be eager to show everyone at Red Hill what they’ll be missing out on next year.

He’ll most likely start in his preferred position of fullback in lieu of Reece Walsh who has been called up as 18th man for QLD.

If he does, it means he’ll get plenty of footy early on, so don’t be surprised to see him power his way over in the infancy of this game.

Also, don’t be surprised to see one hell of a celebration, fuelled up frustration and relief, if he does.

Betting tip: Selwyn Cobbo.

Over/Under Prediction

When this many key players are missing from both sides, we are always hesitant to tip a try-fest.

Yes, defences may be weakened, but the attacking troops just aren’t there for this one. We’ll be taking the under total match points line here.

Betting tip: Under total match points.
