Brisbane Broncos vs Canterbury Bulldogs Prediction – Round 8 2025

23/04/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

The undefeated Canterbury Bulldogs will look to extend their lead atop the NRL ladder when they travel to face the Brisbane Broncos in an ANZAC Day eve clash at Suncorp Stadium.

Coming off consecutive shutouts at home, this will mark Canterbury's first interstate trip of the season. They’ll be living out of a suitcase for the next little while however, as this is the first of three in a row.

From contenders to pretenders, the Broncos have lost two on the bounce, most recently going down to the Warriors in golden point and falling to fifth on the table.

To make matters worse, they’ve now lost Reece Walsh to a knee injury, which means Selwyn Cobbo takes over at fullback and youngster Deine Mariner comes onto the wing.

Back at home, can Brisbane shake off this injury setback to avoid losing three in a row, and simultaneously condemn Canterbury to their first loss of the season? Let’s find out.

Let’s take a look at how these two teams will line up, along with some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer and over/under markets. This is our Broncos vs Bulldogs prediction.

Broncos vs Bulldogs Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Bulldogs remain the only consistently tippable team left in the NRL, as they have delivered every single week without fail.

Last week was no exception, seeing off the Bunnies without conceding on Good Friday, as they again reaffirmed their burgeoning title credentials.

The same could not be said for Brisbane however, a 50m golden point penalty goal in the pouring rain, robbing them of a famous comeback victory in New Zealand.

Losing to an undermanned Warriors outfit is a crushing blow for the Broncos and their own title aspirations and it’s clear at the moment something isn’t quite right at Red Hill.

Now they will be without fullback Reece Walsh for the next 4-6 weeks, however, there is an argument to be made that he has already been missing all season.

Back at Suncorp we’re sure they’ll give the Doggies a good go, but we’re not about to jump off the Canterbury bandwagon just yet.

Betting tip: Canterbury Bulldogs.

First Try Scorer Prediction

As the Bulldogs cross state lines for the first time this season, there will be one man in their ranks who will be happy about their pending road trip.

Hard running winger Jacob Kiraz has scored at least one try in each of Canterbury's last five interstate matches, making him an ideal candidate for this market in our opinion.

Betting tip: Jacob Kiraz.

Over/Under Prediction

Most of the Bulldogs success so far this season has been built on resolute defence. The NRL’s new kings of the grind have successfully shut out their opposition in their last two matches and while we don’t think they’ll do that to Brisbane, we do think this one will go under the total match points line of 43.5.

Betting tip: Under total match points.
