Brisbane Broncos 2025 Season Summary

Ladder position: 4th.

Wins: 15.

Losses: 9.

Draws: 0.

Biggest win: 60-14 vs South Sydney Rabbitohs in round 22.

Biggest loss: 34-6 vs Manly Sea Eagles in round 13.

Leading try scorer: Gehamat Shibasaki (15).

Many moves in the offseason, including appointing a new head coach in Michael Maguire, had the hype swirling around the Broncos early.

This gave way to a fast start, premiership favouritism and then an almighty crash. Then more disaster, or at least that’s what it looked like.

Star men and both starting halves Adam Reynolds and Ezra Mam were injured in the same play, forcing Ben Hunt and Billy Walters to form a new and unlikely halves pairing for the remainder of the season.

Did someone say blessing in disguise? Since then, the Broncos have been undefeated, not only securing a finals spot, but forcing their way into the top four and back into the premiership conversation.

Brisbane Broncos Players to Watch

Ben Hunt

Talk about a full circle moment. When Ben Hunt returned to Red Hill in the offseason to end his career where it began, he probably didn’t think he would be starting at halfback entering the finals.

Well, with Reynolds still sidelined and Brisbane on a roll since he took the reins, that’s where he is. That was also where he was when he infamously grassed the Cowboys golden point kick off in the 2015 Grand Final.

That blunder would ultimately cost the Broncos the match and the premiership, but now, a decade later, Hunt has the opportunity to live out the ultimate redemption arc.

Billy Walters

When his old man was given the boot by the Brisbane bosses, many thought Billy Walters would follow him out the door.

He didn’t and now he finds himself at five-eighth replacing injured Ezra and playing the best footy of his career.

Reece Walsh

You can’t keep your eyes off this bloke for a second, whether its on or off the field. Blink and you might miss him scoring a runaway try or drinking out of a toilet.

With Reece Walsh you never know exactly what you’re going to get and that’s what makes him so dangerous.

Brisbane Broncos NRL Finals Preview – Why They Can Win It

It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish, and Brisbane enter the NRL Finals in a rich vein of form.

The Broncos are on a four-game winning streak and their final round win over heavyweights Melbourne not only ensured they would finish fourth but also underlined their title credentials.

With an all-important double chance in their back pocket and a tidal wave of momentum on their side, there’s no reason why Brisbane can’t make a serious splash at the business end of the season.

Brisbane Broncos NRL Finals Preview – Why They Can’t Win It

Any more injuries to members of their spine and it could be all over for Brisbane. They’ve been able to cover the loss of Reynolds and Mam, but that means both of their utilities on Hunt and Walters now have fixed positions.

This inelasticity could prove to be detrimental, should another player in a skilled position go down.

Brisbane Broncos NRL Finals Prediction

Think you have a good idea of how the Brisbane Broncos will fare this finals series?
