The 2024 edition of Sportsbet’s Try July wrapped up over the weekend with the NRL and NRLW players going out in style with some amazing try celebrations. $400,000 was raised in total, with $200,000 each going to joint recipients the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation (ASCF) and former Brisbane Broncos NRLW player Toni Hunt.

The total amount raised since the inaugural edition of Try July in 2020 now sits at $1,425,000.

CEO and Founder of Australian Skin Cancer Foundation, Jay Allen said the money raised would go towards a second Skin Check Truck. “Try July is a magnificent concept and we are absolutely delighted with the outcome of $200,000 being donated to the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation. Every cent will go towards getting a second Skin Check Truck on the road so communities across rural Australia will have access to this life saving service for free. We thank Sportsbet, the NRL and all the players involved in Try July. This mean so much to our team and the skin cancer community. So many more lives will now be saved.”

Toni Hunt said she was thankful for the support shown to her and her family. “I am forever grateful for Sportsbet and the rugby league community for supporting me and my family. We are so blessed to have so many amazing people who continue to go above and beyond for us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

Sportsbet CEO, Barni Evans praised the players for getting behind Try July. “The players of both the NRL and NRLW really do need all the accolades for the way they have once again embraced Try July. Rugby League can be a serious game at times but we’re very proud to be able to inject some real fun in to both competitions for the fans to enjoy, all the while raising much needed money for two great causes.”
