NRL Judiciary News – Finals Week 2 Recap:

- Daly Cherry-Evans, Lindsay Collins and Billy Smith have all been hit with Match Review Committee charges following the Roosters' 46-10 semi-final win over Cronulla.

- Cherry-Evans was pinged for a trip on Sharks backrower Teig Wilton in the 60th minute, copping a $1,000 fine for his first offence.

- Collins and Smith were each slapped with Grade 1 dangerous contact charges, facing identical fines of $1,000 with an early plea.

- Crucially, none of the three charges carries a suspension, meaning the trio are free to run out against the Dolphins in Friday's preliminary final.

Cherry-Evans Cops Trip Charge

Veteran halfback Daly Cherry-Evans found himself in the Bunker's crosshairs during the 60th minute of the Roosters' 46-10 demolition of the Sharks. 

Attempting to stop Teig Wilton from breaking clear, DCE threw out his right leg in what officials deemed an unnatural action.

"Daly extends the leg in an unnatural action, so this is a penalty and is on report," the Bunker official confirmed at the time.

The Match Review Committee subsequently charged the former Manly skipper with his first offence of the season, resulting in a $1,000 fine with an early plea, or $1,500 should he challenge and lose.

Collins and Smith Also in Hot Water

Prop Lindsay Collins was the first Rooster cited, picking up a Grade 1 dangerous contact charge for a 17th-minute tackle on Sharks fullback William Kennedy. 

Referee Adam Gee blew his whistle to award Cronulla a penalty and place Collins on report.

Outside back Billy Smith joined his teammate on the charge sheet after making contact with Sharks forward Siosifa Talakai in the 34th minute, receiving the same Grade 1 dangerous contact charge.

As first-time offenders, both players face the standard sanction: a $1,000 fine with an early plea, rising to $1,500 if they unsuccessfully contest the charge.

Preliminary Final Beckons

The biggest takeaway for Trent Robinson and the Tricolours is that none of the three charges carry a suspension. 

Provided all three accept their fines, Cherry-Evans, Collins and Smith will be available for selection when the Roosters take on the Dolphins in Friday night's preliminary final.

With a grand final berth on the line, the Roosters will be breathing a collective sigh of relief that their finals campaign remains at full strength heading into the pointy end of the NRL season.
