NRL Injury News Summary – Round 26:

- Broncos’ superstar Reece Walsh faces an eight-week layoff after ankle surgery, all but ending his Kangaroos World Cup hopes.

- Manly speedster Tolu Koula suffered a syndesmosis injury after a hip drop tackle from Knights winger Dom Young.

- Warriors’ halfback Luke Metcalf is out for the rest of the regular season with a hamstring strain, targeting a finals return.

- Sharks five-eighth Braydon Trindall dislocated his shoulder but has avoided season-ending surgery, keeping finals hopes alive.

Broncos, Sea Eagles Feel the Pinch

Brisbane's season has gotten even worse with Reece Walsh going under the knife on his ankle and staring down an eight-week recovery. 

With Australia's World Cup opener against the Kiwis locked in for Thursday, 15 October, the electric fullback looks set to miss the green and gold jersey entirely.

Manly are also nursing wounds after Tolu Koula went down with a syndesmosis injury in Saturday's clash with Newcastle. 

The flyer was dragged down just short of the tryline by Dom Young in a hip drop tackle that saw the Knights winger sin binned. 

Young gun Joey Walsh played on with a hairline jaw fracture in the loss to the Dolphins – a gutsy effort that drew plenty of praise from coach Kieran Foran.

Warriors Sweat on Finals Stars

Andrew Webster's men are managing multiple concerns heading into September. Halfback Luke Metcalf is a lock to miss the remainder of the regular season with a hamstring injury, though the mentor remains optimistic about a deep finals run.

"The timeline for him will be deep into the finals but you never know," Webster said. "I think this is probably the most optimistic I've seen him."

Winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak also copped an AC joint injury in the win over Souths after one of his trademark corner dives went wrong.

Sharks, Dragons and Bulldogs Add to the List

Cronulla five-eighth Braydon Trindall dislocated his shoulder at Ocean Protect Stadium, but scans confirmed he has dodged season-ending surgery, giving him a shot at featuring in the finals. 

Centre Jesse Ramien wasn't as fortunate, with pectoral surgery ruling him out for 2026.

The Dragons lost hooker Jacob Liddle to a suspected torn calf against the Dogs on Saturday night, while Canterbury themselves saw Enari Tuala scratched late with a knee complaint and Kurt Mann injuring his groin soon after coming on.

Souths Await Latrell Return

Rabbitohs faithful will have to keep waiting on Latrell Mitchell, who was named in the extended squad for the Warriors clash before being iced once more. 

The star centre is now targeting Round 26 after 11 games sidelined with a nerve issue. Veteran Adam Elliott has joined the treatment table with a strained adductor, expected to miss two to three weeks.

Elsewhere, Titans forward Beau Fermor was pulled from Sunday's contest with an abdominal complaint, Wests Tigers lock Alex Twal exited early against the Roosters with a Category 1 head knock, and Raiders back-rower Zac Hosking pulled up sore with a hamstring injury against Brisbane.
