Blues Camp Sweating on Origin Game Two Availability
Penrith young gun Casey McLean is the headline name causing concern in the New South Wales camp.
The debutant centre from the series opener at Accor Stadium left Sunday's clash with the Wests Tigers early in the second half before riding the exercise bike on the sideline.
Panthers boss Ivan Cleary confirmed scans are required but offered a glimmer of hope.
"I think it's not too bad. His syndesmosis is apparently intact, that's the biggest danger. I think he'll be alright but I'm not going to speculate," Cleary said.
Cronulla rake Blayke Brailey, who impressed on his Blues debut, suffered a broken arm and faces a 4-6 week recovery, ruling him out of Game Two and clouding his Game Three hopes.
Storm Rocked by Coates Setback
Melbourne's premiership push has copped a heartbreaking hit, with representative winger Xavier Coates rupturing his Achilles at Friday's captain's run. The flyer will undergo surgery and miss the rest of the 2026 season.
"He's done his Achilles again … the players knew before the game, I think … our effort tonight was a little bit for X," coach Craig Bellamy said. "It's obviously a serious injury again, but if there's someone that'll fight it and fight his way back it'll be Xavier."
The Storm were already without Jack Howarth (quad), while Tui Kamikamica and Eli Katoa remain sidelined with medical episodes.
Broncos Forward Pack Decimated
Brisbane's forward stocks have taken a battering. Lock Pat Carrigan requires syndesmosis repair surgery, ending his Origin series.
Centre has also Gehamat Shibasaki sustained a Grade 2 MCL injury that could keep him out for up to six weeks, while rookie Va'a Semu was taken to hospital for precautionary scans following a chest injury against the Titans.
Tigers and Dragons Add to the Injury Toll
The Wests Tigers' woes deepened on Sunday with halfback Jock Madden hyper-extending his elbow and prop Royce Hunt suffering a pectoral injury that ended his afternoon.
They join a treatment room already housing Alex Twal (MCL, 4-6 weeks), Adam Doueihi and Taylan May (both shoulder, Round 16 returns).
The Dragons are bracing for bad news on representative forward Jaydn Su'A, who tore his pectoral in his first game back from a calf complaint.
"I don't think it's good. Just spoke to him then, he thinks he might have torn it," interim coach Dean Young said.
Elsewhere, Raiders winger Savelio Tamale failed his HIA, Knights hooker Phoenix Crossland was taken to hospital after a head knock, and Sea Eagles fullback Clayton Faulalo strained a hamstring scoring against Souths – with Tom Trbojevic eyeing a Round 16 return.
