NRL Injury News Summary – Round 12:

- Rabbitohs superstar Latrell Mitchell has withdrawn from Origin I and Round 12 due to a lingering back complaint.

- Broncos enforcer Payne Haas is tracking to return in Round 13, with Brendan Piakura and Grant Anderson also pencilled in.

- Warriors halfback Tanah Boyd is facing a suspected ACL tear after pulling up early in the Magic Round clash with Brisbane.

- Wests Tigers fear a season-ending shoulder injury for Taylan May, while Alex Twal is also sidelined with a knee issue.

Magic Round delivered the drama but also a fresh wave of casualties, with Latrell Mitchell, Tanah Boyd and Taylan May headlining a brutal weekend at Suncorp Stadium that has reshaped both Round 12 and the looming State of Origin opener.

Latrell Out, Haas Eyeing Origin II Return

Latrell Mitchell has informed Blues coach Laurie Daley and South Sydney officials he isn't 100 per cent fit, ruling himself out of Origin I and the Rabbitohs' Round 12 fixture.

The inform centre looked restricted on his return at Magic Round and was pulled with seven minutes remaining against the Dolphins.

The flipside for NSW punters is the imminent return of Payne Haas. The Broncos prop is recovering from an MCL tear in his right leg, but Brisbane coach Michael Maguire confirmed Haas is on track for Round 13, alongside Cook Islands second-rower Brendan Piakura (LCL/hamstring) and Grant Anderson.

Knights centre Bradman Best, however, remains unavailable for Blues selection with a calf strain picked up at training.

Warriors Sweat on Boyd Scan

The Warriors copped one of the weekend's worst blows when in-form halfback Tanah Boyd suffered a suspected ACL injury in the opening minutes against Brisbane.

Boyd, who recently re-signed with the club, stepped off his right foot, pulled up immediately and was visibly emotional leaving the field. With Dragons-bound Luke Metcalf given the week off to sort out his playing future, Te Maire Martin slotted in.

Magic Round Carnage Across the Comp

The injury toll stretched across nearly every fixture:

Wests Tigers: Taylan May suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder that coach Benji Marshall fears could be season-ending, while Alex Twal succumbed to a knee injury

Titans: Forward Chris Randall failed an HIA and was ruled out

Cowboys: Winger Braidon Burns left the field with a hamstring complaint

Roosters: Daniel Tupou pulled up with a calf issue after taking a Hugo Savala pass in the first half

Storm: Winger Moses Leo went down with a knee injury against the Eels

Dolphins: Playmaker Kodi Nikorima was ruled out at half-time with a hamstring, though coach Kristian Woolf is optimistic it isn't long-term

Raiders: Simi Sasagi is facing 4-6 weeks on the sideline with a shoulder injury, with no structural damage confirmed

Dragons: Moses Suli failed to finish against the Panthers with back spasms, while Tyrell Sloan was a late scratching with a groin issue

What It Means for the Markets

With Mitchell sidelined, the Rabbitohs' attacking spine takes another hit alongside Alex Johnston, Jack Wighton and Brandon Smith.

The Tigers and Warriors both face spine and outside-back shuffles, while Brisbane's expected reinforcements could swing the Round 13 ladder picture.

Origin I shapes as a fascinating selection puzzle for Daley, with Haas locked in for Game II and the Blues spine still to be finalised.
