It’s almost time for the biggest party of the summer and the second-largest event on the WWE calendar.

Yes, it’s time for SummerSlam 2025! And for the first time ever, it will be held as a two-night extravaganza, emanating from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Headlined by the grudge rematch between Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena and ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes in a WrestleMania rematch, almost every title from the main roster will be defended across the two-night event.

Plus, country music superstar Jelly Roll is set for in-ring action, teaming up with WWE legend Randy Orton to face the team of Drew McIntyre and social media star turned WWE wrestler, Logan Paul.

As always, at WWE events, we expect the unexpected, which means we are on the lookout for guest appearances and debuts, surprise returns, heel turns, and betrayals.

WWE SummerSlam 2025 Predictions & Preview

Saturday Matches

Gunther vs CM Punk - World Heavyweight Championship Match

It’s CM Punk’s first chance at the big one since he returned to the company in 2023.

He might be in this match slightly fortuitously after the injury to Seth Rollins, but there’s no denying that the Punker can still go in the ring.

Gunther won his strap back almost straight away from Jey Uso after dropping the belt to him at Mania and has continued to elevate himself and the belt.

The wildcard here is still Rollins and his ‘injury’ and just how much it’s been mentioned on TV since it happened.

We think Punk defeats Gunther and has his moment celebrating with the belt, but it's what happens in the immediate aftermath here that has us most interested.

Betting tip: CM Punk.

Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez vs Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss - WWE Women's Tag-Team Championship Match

Well, at least people are talking about and interested in the Women’s tag titles now, after they were an afterthought for a long while.

The odd couple of Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair was an interesting move initially when WWE cobbled them together, but after a few weeks, something might be brewing.

Whether they need to win the belts so quickly is another thing, and probably doesn’t need to happen if you want to take long-term storytelling into account, but these are the only belts in the company that Triple H seems to be ok with bouncing around a fair bit.

Betting tip: Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair.

Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul - Tag-Team Match

At the time of writing, this seems to be the match on the card at the most risk, with Drew McIntyre stuck overseas and looking increasingly likely to not make it back in time.

Let's say he is a project here, with this cobbled-together pairing between the country music superstar Jelly Roll and Randy Orton. It feels like they’ve put Orton here to give him something to do on the card and are still working out his direction after the injury to Kevin Owens earlier in the year.

Paul and Drew McIntyre (or whoever his partner ends up being) would benefit more from the win here, and I don't see any harm in Jelly Roll taking a pin.

Betting tip: Logan Paul & Drew McIntyre.

Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed - Tag-Team Match

The plan was for two singles matches, but WWE isn’t getting any of Reigns or Breakker to take a pinfall at the moment. Or Jey Uso, for that matter, considering how hot he is with everyone at the moment.

Which really only leaves Bronson Reed to take the pin. Handing the win to the OG Bloodline

Betting tip: Roman Reigns & Jey Uso.

Tiffany Stratton vs Jade Cargill - WWE Women’s Championship Match

Stratton’s rise to the top of the Women’s division has been sharp, quick, and well deserved.

But is ‘Tiffy Time’ finally up?

Coming up against the reigning Queen of the Ring winner Jade Cargill, the path forward makes more sense with a Cargill win here. And that’s no slouch on Stratton's run as the champ either, it’s just time to move the strap on.

Speculating… but a Cargill vs Bianca Belair feud in the future would absolutely slap.

Betting tip: Jade Cargill.

Sami Zayn vs Karrion Kross - Singles Match

Don’t let anyone tell you that people don’t have ways of getting what they want.

They wanted to see more of Kross and to see him go with Zayn again, and now they’re getting it on PPV.

This one might open the show… which would be hell of a way to kick things off just quietly. We think Zayn wins, purely because there’s been some noise this week surrounding Kross and Scarlett’s future with the company.

So we’re picking Sami here to start his road up to the top come Mania next year.

Betting tip: Sami Zayn.

Sunday Matches

John Cena vs Cody Rhodes - Street Fight for the WWE Undisputed Championship

John Cena’s quest to ruin wrestling in his final year sees him on a collision course with Cody Rhodes again in a Wrestlemania rematch for the top prize in the company.

It’s been an interesting build to get here, and it seems like we're at the point of a double turn with Cena coming good again for his final six months and Cody turning heel.

It’s a no DQ match being a street fight, but we think Rhodes some something particularly nasty here in the match, taking things too far to get his belt back and crossing to the dark side.

Betting tip: Cody Rhodes.

Dominik Mysterio vs AJ Styles - Intercontinental Championship Match

After finally getting medically cleared, ‘Dirty Dom’ must finally defend his title against AJ Styles.

While Dom is incredibly over with the fans, he hasn’t done much with the IC title since his shocking win back at Mania. There’s plenty that either of these guys could do here, and it should be a pretty fun match that might even open night 2.

It makes sense for Styles to win the belt here; he’s been on a strong build since he returned from his latest injury… and thankfully gotten his old theme music back.

Betting tip: AJ Styles.

Solo Sikoa vs Jacob Fatu - Steel Cage Match for the United States Championship

Even though the point of having a steel cage around the ring is to keep the shenanigans at bay, expect the shenanigans to infiltrate this one.

Fatu is certainly the more over of the two ex Bloodline members here. This could get rather silly, actually, with some crazy Fatu feats of strength.

These two should trade and chase this title for a bit longer, and having Jacob doing the chasing is certainly more fun for the viewers and fans.

Betting tip: Solo Sikoa.

Becky Lynch vs Lyra Valkyria - Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match

This one promises to be a humdinger between the two Irish women who have traded the belt since Wrestlemania.

This one just has to be Lyra; otherwise, she probably won’t be in a title picture again anytime soon. Lynch is big enough and good enough to work with anyone and make it good. Valkyria, on the other hand, would be significantly hurt by a loss here, so we’re picking her to win.

Betting tip: Lyra Valkyria.

Naomi vs Iyo Sky vs Rhea Ripley - Triple Threat Match for Women’s World Heavyweight Championship

Naomi’s cash in was perfect.

It was at the perfect moment and the perfect fit for her new heel character persona.

There’s no reason to take the belt off her at this stage. It will be a fun match built around the Ripley-Iyo rivalry, where Naomi can just sneak around and steal a win somewhere.

Betting tip: Naomi.

*The card is subject to change
