TIME Person of the Year 2025 Predictions

03/12/2025||Novelties Tips & Predictions

First awarded in 1927, TIME Person of the Year is one of the most unique accolades in all of popular culture.

The criterion for the award is outlined as “a person, group, idea, or object that for better or for worse has done the most to influence the events of the year.”

An eclectic group of individuals have won this award throughout the last 98 years. From presidents to popes to popstars, anyone can win if their impact and influence is great enough.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at who and what is in the running for the 2025 TIME Person of the Year award.

TIME Person of the Year 2025 Predictions – The Favourites

Artificial Intelligence

Person Robot of the Year? According to the outright betting, it looks like that could be the case this year.

Artificial Intelligence or AI, as it’s more commonly known, is the current favourite to take out TIME’s 2025 Person of the Year award.

Now, we know what you’re thinking, isn’t it person of the year? Well, no. In fact, if AI does take home the title as predicted, it will be the second robot to win the award.

That’s right, the computer did it first, winning in 1982. Dubbed the “Machine of the Year” the original computer heralded the dawn of the Information Age, and we could be about to see AI follow in its digital footprints.

Pope Leo XIV

This year saw a new Pope elected after the passing of Pope Francis and Leo XIV has certainly put his zucchetto forward as the coolest Pope for some time.

Born and raised in Chicago, he is the first Pope ever to be born in the US. When he’s not blessing Red Sox jerseys, he’s standing up for human rights and being heavily considered for TIME’s Person of the Year.

Three Popes have previously been anointed TIME’s Person of the Year, with the most recent being Leo’s predecessor Francis in in 2013. Can Pope Leo become the fourth?

Donald Trump

The reigning person of the year, current US President Donald Trump is actually on a hat-trick.

He first took out this title back in 2016 when he was originally elected president, before returning to the cover of the famous magazine last year, as he returned to the White House.

Easily the most talked about person on the planet, Trump is always going to be well in the running and if he does win again, he will become just the second person ever to be named TIME Person of the Year on three separate occasions. The first was Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Jimmy Kimmel

Controversy and then a subsequent public apology has launched talk show host Jimmy Kimmel into the conversation for TIME Person of the Year.

Being one of the most prominent late night television hosts, Kimmel has been firmly in the public eye for the best part of the last two decades, but 2025 has seen him garner attention like never before.

Could it also see him be named TIME Person of the Year? Watch this space.

TIME Person of the Year 2025 Predictions – Under the Radar Options

Elon Musk

When he’s not buying Twitter or sending rockets into orbit, Elon Musk is in contention for TIME Person of the Year.

A previous winner back in 2021, Musk could be in with a shot of winning again after his very public alliance and subsequent falling out with President Donald Trump.

JD Vance

Speaking of Trump, his right-hand man and current Vice-President JD Vance presents another intriguing option in this market.

It would be a bit of an anomaly for the Vice-President to be named person of the year ahead of the President, but seeing as Trump has already won twice and Vance is one of the most outspoken and polarising VPs in some time, he could very well upset the applecart here.

Oasis

I said maybe? Away from the American political mire, legendary UK rockers Oasis are an outside chance of gracing the front cover of TIME’s Person of the Year edition.

A reunion nearly two decades in the making, 2025 saw the Gallagher brothers finally put their feud behind them and get the band back together.

A truly triumphant return, Oasis played to sold out stadiums across the globe and are showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
