Grab the chicken wings and pass the Bud Light, the NFL regular season has been run and won and the playoffs are upon us. Allow us to translate, get the snags, chuck us a VB, it’s finals time.

Yes, they do things a little differently across the pond, that’s why here at Sportsbet we’ve created this NFL playoffs prediction guide to help ease any red, white and blue coloured confusion.

The 32 teams that started the NFL season have been whittled down to just 14. From here there is a month of non-stop action that will see these 14 teams become just two. These two remaining sides will then contest the Super Bowl on February 12th, but only one will claim the NFL’s ultimate prize.

Which teams are in the 2022-2023 NFL playoffs?

In total, 14 teams from across the league (seven from each of the two conferences) will take part in the playoffs.

Each team has been awarded a seed based on their performances in the regular season. The seeds for each conference are then used to determine the playing schedule of the playoffs, with certain advantages awarded to teams with the higher seeds.

How will the 2022-2023 NFL playoffs work?

The NFL employs a traditional bracket system to structure their playoffs with a few minor tweaks. As 14 teams qualify for the postseason, there are seven teams on each side of the bracket, separated by conference.

The No. 1 seed for each conference, in this case the Kansas City Chiefs (AFC) and the Philadelphia Eagles (NFC), receive a bye. This means they get to put their feet up, have a week off and watch the other six teams below them play wild-card games.

The rest of the teams in each conference are then matched up based on their seed, with the highest seed versing the lowest. So, the No.2 seed plays the No.7 seed, the No.3 seed plays the No.6 seed and yep, you guessed it, the No.4 and 5 seeds go head-to-head.

After the opening round has concluded the remaining teams are re-seeded, with the well-rested No.1 seeds playing the lowest remaining seeds in their respective divisions.

From there the playoffs play out like a traditional do-or-die bracket until only two remain. These two then contest the Super Bowl, heard of it? Thought you might have.
