NFL Expert Picks – Week 5

05/10/2023|Josh Jenkins|NFL Tips & Predictions

With a month of NFL action in the books, contenders have begun to emerge, and pretenders are beginning to think about climbing back into their hole and considering the gun players atop the draft.

San Francisco has been the most dominant team to date whilst Kansas City, Miami and Buffalo have all looked the goods at various stages.

The Lions (yep, Detroit), Tampa (unbelievable, I know) and the Seahawks are all 3-1 and deserve some love too.

Below are the games I’m headhunting this week and where I feel we can land a winner! So, without further ado, here are my NFL picks for week five of the season.

Buffalo Bills vs Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction

Monday, October 9, 12:30am AEDT – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Trevor Lawrence and his Jags have been underwhelming through four games, but they did handle the Falcons easily in Europe last week.

The Bills are rolling on the back of obliterating the previously high-flying ‘Fins. Josh Allen again looks like an MVP stand out but the loss of Tre White on defence will hurt.

Pick: Bills 27 - Jags 24.

Best Bet: +49.5 total points (Allen and the Bills have scored 48, 37 and 38 in their past three)

New England Patriots vs New Orleans Saints Prediction

Monday, October 9, 4:00am AEDT – Gillette Stadium

Hardly blockbuster material but New England are 1-3 and risk losing touch in the AFC East whilst New Orleans are better placed, just one game behind the surprising Buccaneers.

Going to Foxborough and facing Belichick is not easy but this Pats roster is pretty awful and the questions about the quarterback are raging. I like the upset here, folks.

Pick: Saints 23 - Patriots 22

Best Bet: Saints win H2H.

Minnesota Vikings vs Kansas City Chiefs Prediction

Monday, October 9, 7:25am AEDT – U.S Bank Stadium

It’s season on the line type stuff for Minnesota as the champs (and T. Swift) come to town. Kirk Cousins’ play is rock solid - despite what many say - but the week one home loss to Tampa still haunts Vikings fans.

Justin Jefferson claims to be happy but you feel like it’s a volatile situation in Minneapolis, hence why a win here is so important.

Kansas City have won three straight but without much hype. Mahomes will be keen to bounce back from a weird performance in New York, admittedly facing a staunch Jets defence.

Pick: Chiefs 30 - Vikings 27

Best Bet: Mahomes +275 passing yards
