Things are getting interesting in the NBL as we move into Round 7.

United stayed perfect and are now nine wins from nine games, but hot on their heels is little brother from down the road, who has found themselves up in second position after a strong start to the season.

Elsewhere, the defending champs might have found the tonic with a road win to get their championship defence really up and going, while the Sydney Kings invented another way to lose a game and leave their season teetering.

But there’s no let-up this season, with games coming thick and fast. We’re on again for another big week of action, kicking off in Tassie and finishing off with a Melbourne Cup Eve blockbuster at John Cain Arena.

Tasmania JackJumpers vs Perth Wildcats Prediction

Wednesday, October 29, 2025, 7:30 PM AEDT - MyState Bank Arena, Hobart

The Jackies’ yo-yo season continued in Sydney, but they’ll take plenty of confidence from their late surge to steal a win over the Kings.

Sitting at 5–3 through seven rounds, Tasmania has plenty of upside and will like their chances at home against a Wildcats side that’s been struggling for form, particularly on their own court.

Can they notch consecutive wins? We think so, and they should be able to cover the Wildcats on the spread.

Betting tip: JackJumpers

Brisbane Bullets vs Cairns Taipans Prediction

Thursday, October 30, 2025, 7:30 PM AEDT - Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Brisbane

Casey Prather is the ultimate Benjamin Bullet.

He’s 34 years old and is producing some of the best basketball of his career in the early stages of the NBL 26 season. He’s doing plenty of heavy lifting, keeping this Bullets team in a good place on the ladder.

They’ve shown good form, but would love to show it more consistently. Lucky for them, they get a travelling Taipans side who find themselves in a world of hurt.

Betting tip: Bullets

Illawarra Hawks vs NZ Breakers Prediction

Friday, October 31, 2025, 7:30 PM AEDT - WIN Entertainment Centre, Wollongong

Is that the moment the defending champs needed to turn their stuttering title defence around?

They went to Perth looking for a response, and they got it. Shoutout to JaVale McGee for delivering when the Hawks needed it most.

Having gotten the much-needed win, it’s now about building on it and consolidating. They have plenty of talent on the roster and should have more than enough to get past the travelling Breakers, who dropped a game to the Bullets at home (even if it was their home away from home).

Let’s see if this is the start of the build.

Betting tip: Hawks

Tasmania JackJumpers vs Cairns Taipans Prediction

Saturday, November 1, 2025, 5:30 PM AEDT - Silverdome, Launceston

A quick turnaround for the JackJumpers, but it’s only a quick bus trip down the highway to Launceston for their next game.

And, they’re facing the Taipans, a team that they should be way too strong for. Even if the Jackies' yo-yo season continues early in the week, we expect them to salute here.

Betting tip: JackJumpers

Brisbane Bullets vs Sydney Kings Prediction

Saturday, November 1, 2025, 8:00 PM AEDT - Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Melbourne

It’s a big week for the Sydney Kings.

After collapsing against the JackJumpers at home and slumping to a 3-5 record to begin the season, this is the first of a pair of crucial games in their season.

The pressure is on to stay in touch with the top four. Travelling to Brisbane to face the Bullets will prove a real test of their mettle and show what they are made of.

They really need to get Xavier Cooking again if they want to have any chance of doing something this season.

The Bullets are on the wraparound and will be coming off a QLD derby, which means they could be tired after playing already.. And who knows if they somehow fall to the Taipans, how gettable they might be.

Couple that with a must-win game for the Kings, and they might pull something out of the crown.

Betting tip: Kings

SE Melbourne Phoenix vs Perth Wildcats Prediction

Sunday, November 2, 2025, 2:30 PM AEDT - John Cain Arena, Melbourne

The Phoenix are quietly flying under the radar in South East Melbourne.

It’s hard to stay unnoticed when you’re sitting second on the ladder behind your cross-town rivals, but they’ve exceeded expectations so far this season.

They’ll kick off a huge two days of basketball at John Cain Arena when they host the Wildcats, and they’re looking more and more like genuine contenders.

Betting tip: Phoenix

Adelaide 36ers vs Illawarra Hawks Prediction

Sunday, November 2, 2025, 4:30 PM AEDT - Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Adelaide

We have the Hawks as outsiders here. It’s easy to understand why when you’re scheduled to come up against Bryce Cotton and Adelaide on their home floor.

But the confidence-boosting win away at the Wildcats, followed up by a home game against the Breakers earlier in the week, should put them on a nice runway to stringing some wins together.

It should be a much closer game than expected, and we’re feeling something coming together finally with the defending champs.

Betting tip: Hawks

Melbourne United vs Sydney Kings Prediction

Monday, November 3, 2025, 7:30 PM AEDT - John Cain Arena, Melbourne

Cup Eve basketball between two fierce rivals. And what a stage for it!

It’s rare to see an unbeaten team this deep into the NBL season, so what Melbourne United have done to this point is quite remarkable.

As much as the Kings would dearly love to be the ones to burst the bubble and consign them to their first loss of the campaign, we can’t see that happening on current form.

Looks like it might be 10-0 loading.

Betting tip: United.
