NBL Tips & Predictions – Round 15

12/01/2024|SB Staff|NBL Tips & Predictions

What did we just witness? The last-placed Adelaide 36ers have pulled off one of the great NBL upsets, scalping top of the table Melbourne United.

It was a result no one saw coming, especially after United comfortably defeated the Sydney Kings just days earlier.

However, it was the Melbournians second loss in their last three games, after previously only losing three games all season.

Can they turn things around this week? What about the 36ers? Was that a one-hit wonder? Or is an unlikely revival underway?

For more on these two sides as well as the latest NBL news, analysis and odds for round 15, check out our NBL tips and predictions below.

Brisbane Bullets vs Tasmania JackJumpers Prediction

Wednesday, January 10, 7:30pm AEDT – Nissan Arena

After back-to-back wins, including one over the Sydney Kings, the Brisbane Bullets’ playoffs charge is well underway.

The JackJumpers have slid into third after some impressive results of their own, but at home, we’re backing the Brissy boys to claim a hat-trick of wins.

Tip: Brisbane Bullets.

Adelaide 36ers vs Sydney Kings Prediction

Thursday, January 11, 7:30pm AEDT – Adelaide Entertainment Centre

After their remarkable result against top of the table Melbourne United can cellar dwellers Adelaide scalp top four side the Sydney Kings?

Unlikely. We’re tipping them to be more Rick Astley than Michael Jackson – a one hit wonder.

Tip: Sydney Kings.

New Zealand Breakers vs Melbourne United Prediction

Friday, January 12, 5:30pm AEDT – Spark Arena

A tricky road trip across the ditch might not be the tonic Melbourne United need after their shock loss to dead-last Adelaide last week.

Despite the Breakers lowly position on the ladder this has a “when it rains it pours” feel to it and for those looking for value in round 15 of the NBL, a New Zealand win is where you could find it.

Tip: New Zealand Breakers.

Tasmania JackJumpers vs Illawarra Hawks Prediction

Friday, January 12, 7:30pm AEDT – MyState Bank Arena

Tasmania are one of the teams pulling double duty in round 15 of the NBL. They’ll face Illawarra a few days after facing Brisbane.

The result of this one will largely depend on how they pull up after facing the Bullets, but the extra miles in their legs could play into Illawarra’s favour.

Tip: Illawarra Hawks.

Cairns Taipans vs Adelaide 36ers Prediction

Saturday, January 13, 5:30pm AEDT – Cairns Convention Centre

The last two sides to beat Melbourne United tango when the Taipans host the 36ers up in the tropics.

It’ll be a battle of the big men when Cairns’ Patrick Miller comes up against Adelaide’s Dejan Vasiljevic.

Both scored at least 30 in their respective wins over United and both will have a massive say on the result here. Miller’s disappointing performance last round against Tassie leans this one in Vasiljevic and Adelaide’s favour for us though.

Tip: Adelaide 36ers.

Perth Wildcats vs SEM Phoenix Prediction

Saturday, January 13, 8:00pm AEDT – RAC Arena

Will Melbourne United’s recent downturn in form, second-placed Perth Wildcats are eyeing an ambush on top spot.

They currently have a game in hand and if Melbourne keep dropping points, there are enough games left in the season for them to steal first from underneath them.

With three wins in a row under their belt and home ground advantage, all signs point to a Perth victory here.

Tip: Perth Wildcats.

Brisbane Bullets vs Illawarra Hawks Prediction

Sunday, January 14, 2:00pm AEDT – Nissan Arena

Two sides looking to sew up top six spots and sitting side-by-side on the ladder, this one between the Bullets and the Hawks is hard to call.

The Hawks recent form leans this one in their favour for us, they’ve won five out of their last six, but did lose to the Bullets last time they played.

This is going to be a thriller and there shouldn’t be much in it, but we’re backing Illawarra home here.

Tip: Illawarra Hawks.

Sydney Kings vs New Zealand Breakers Prediction

Sunday, January 14, 4:00pm AEDT – Qudos Bank Arena

The final game of round 15 sees the Sydney Kings host New Zealand’s finest - the Breakers.

Back-to-back losses have sent Sydney into a spin, and they are at risk of losing their top four spot should their poor form continue.

Surprisingly the Breakers have been very good on the road over the last month, winning their last three away games in a row. Their decent value to make it four here.

Tip: New Zealand Breakers.
