Yankees vs Red Sox

The Yankees have outscored Boston 21-9 across five meetings in 2026, winning four of them, and the Red Sox just watched Aroldis Chapman blow another save in a gut-punch loss to Colorado.

New York rolls into Fenway riding a 4-game lead atop the AL East and sitting 15 games clear of last-place Boston, looking to extend their dominance over a rival in freefall.

  • Competition: MLB Regular Season, AL East
  • Venue: Fenway Park, Boston
  • Date: Saturday, June 27, 2026
  • Start Time: 9:10 AM AEST (Saturday, June 27) / 7:10 PM ET (Friday, June 26)
  • Broadcast: ESPN Unlmtd / MLB.TV

Yankees vs Red Sox Form and Head to Head

New York own this rivalry in 2026. They've won four of five meetings so far, posting 4-0, 4-1, and 4-2 scorelines in a three-game sweep at Fenway in April before splitting a two-game set at Yankee Stadium in June (losing 5-3 on June 5 before bouncing back with a 6-1 win on June 7). The only blemish came in that June 5 loss when Boston snapped the streak.

The Yankees come in at 47-31 after dropping a series to Cincinnati, with recent blowout wins over the White Sox (12-2 and 10-5) showing the offence is firing.

Boston sit at 31-45 and have struggled to string wins together, managing back-to-back victories just once in their last seven series.

Their poor home record (worst in the AL through early June) is among the worst in the American League.

Chapman's Blown Save Caps a Rough Stretch for Boston's Bullpen

The Red Sox bullpen has become a genuine liability. Chapman's ninth-inning meltdown against Colorado on June 22 was the latest in a pattern of late-game collapses that have cost Boston winnable games.

The back end of the pen offers little confidence for close situations.

New York's injury list is long but manageable. Aaron Judge remains sidelined with a rib stress fracture and is expected to miss significant time, while Giancarlo Stanton (calf) has been out since late April.

The Yankees have absorbed those losses remarkably well. Ben Rice has emerged as one of the best hitters in baseball, slashing .288 with 22 home runs and a .989 OPS. Cody Bellinger (.273, 11 HR, 49 RBI) and Jazz Chisholm Jr. (.230, 12 HR, 33 RBI) anchor the middle of the order.

Boston are also without Trevor Story (sports hernia), Isiah Kiner-Falefa (forearm), and Nick Sogard (oblique). Interim manager Chad Tracy has steadied things slightly since replacing Alex Cora in April, but results still aren't coming consistently enough.

Yankees vs Red Sox Betting Markets

You'll find the full range of baseball odds for this one over at Sportsbet, including match result, run lines, and total runs.

The moneyline favours New York, as you'd expect from a team leading the division with a dominant head-to-head record this season.

Check the Yankees vs Red Sox odds for the full range of markets. The totals market is worth a close look too.

Boston's bullpen struggles combine with New York's explosive offence to create a recipe for runs, and three of the Yankees' last five games have produced nine or more combined runs.

Player props could offer value around Rice, who has been consistently productive, and Chisholm, who smacked a three-run homer in the last meeting between these sides.

Yankees vs Red Sox Prediction: Our Pick

The Yankees look set to continue their dominance over Boston, and we fancy this one to produce plenty of runs along the way.

New York have won four of five head-to-heads, outscoring Boston 21-9 across those meetings, and nothing about Boston's current trajectory suggests that changes here.

The Red Sox's poor home record strips away any Fenway advantage, and their bullpen is leaking runs at the worst possible time.

On the other side, the Yankees' offence has a genuinely high ceiling, as shown by those 12-2 and 10-5 demolitions of Chicago. Rice's .989 OPS gives the lineup a legitimate centrepiece even without Judge.

The total runs market looks inviting given Boston's late-inning fragility. Chapman's blown save against the Rockies was symptomatic of a bullpen that can't close games out, and New York have the bats to capitalise.

The risk here is an unknown starting pitching matchup, with both starters still listed as TBD.

Even factoring that in, the talent gap between a first-place side and a last-place one is too wide to ignore. Back the Yankees to get the job done, and expect runs when they do.
