Bells Beach Pro 2025 Preview and Forecast

According to the early forecast, the opening day of the 2025 Bells Beach Pro looks to be bringing clean, fun-sized 3-4 foot sets.

Very similar to recent WSL tour stop Punta Roca, the conditions should be offshore in the morning before dissipating throughout the day as the wind starts to shift.

Conditions look to be similar throughout Saturday, before they worsen for a solid chunk of the event, due to a strong high-pressure system.

The good news is at the back end of the 2025 Bells Beach Pro looks as if the weather will bring a stronger frontal progression into the Vic region.

With this in mind, the high-performance, smaller wave specialists should be expected to perform through the early rounds, before we get a more 'vintage' version of Bells Beach for the latter portion of the event.

Bells Beach 2025 Men's Predictions

Italo Ferreira

Brazilian Italo Ferreira has been the form surfer on tour this year, currently holding a comfortable 6,000+ points lead at the top of the rankings.

He won this event back in 2018 and has complimented this with multiple consistent performances here since.

He's got the range to excel in the early event window during 3-4 foot days thanks to his aerial game.

A multi-faceted pro, Ferreira also has the chops to mix it up in much bigger 6-8 foot conditions, if we're blessed with it later in the event window.

Ethan Ewing

Homegrown Aussie hero Ethan Ewing is an excellent pick for this event. He won at Bells back in 2023 and has a style that caters excellently to large, walled-up waves.

The 26-year-old is currently sitting second in the WSL rankings and has shown excellent consistency across the last three events.

Last year, he went down to eventual event winner Cole Houshmand in the QFs, but if we get to see Bells in its full 6ft+ glory, Ewing will be the man to watch given his elite rail surfing prowess.

Filipe Toledo

Felipe is another ex-world champion who holds an excellent track record at Bells Beach. He won here in 2022, came 3rd in 2023, 2nd in 2019 and has booked a handful of 5th place finishes as well.

Although he has started this year off quite slowly after a year off in 2024, we expect him to start turning things around at an event like this.

Toledo also has the range to excel here in both the small or large days - with his range of aerial tricks, rail game and unmatched speed.

Bells Beach 2025 Women’s Predictions

Caitlin Simmers

Simmers has looked unstoppable this year, riding the form of a world title in 2024. Caitlin isn’t simmering, she’s straight cooking and currently holds the yellow jersey, with a 2,000+ points lead.

She took out this event last year and looks poised to make another strong run at Bells this year.

Similar to our men's pick, she has the diversity in her skillset to compete with the best whether it's 2-3ft or 6ft+ swell.

Tyler Wright

Tyler has shown glimpses of her past world title form, currently sitting in 5th place in the Women’s WSL rankings.

With event wins here in 2022 and 2023, alongside numerous other solid placings, she is definitely another one to keep an eye on come April 18.

Caroline Marks

American phenom Caroline Marks is statically one of the best women's surfers on right-hand point breaks and boasts a solid track record at this break; with 3rd place finishes in 2024, 2019 and 2018.

She has really established herself over the last few years after her maiden world title in 2023 and has served as a consistent top three women's surfer since.

Marks currently sits in 3rd place in the WSL rankings with some solid showings in the first four tour stops of the year

Her aggressive backhand style should cater very well to the predicted Bells conditions should they come to fruition and produce some solid sets towards the latter part of the event.
