The major cycling events don’t stop, as some of the world’s best riders will take on Spain just a month after competing in the Tour de France.

And several betting opportunities will be available for bettors at Sportsbet, with markets already available to browse in the lead up to the race.

When Is the 2025 Vuelta a España?

The 2025 Vuelta a España will start on August 23 and will feature 21 stages. The Grand Tour will finish on September 14.

Where Is the 2025 Vuelta a España Held?

The 2025 edition of the Vuelta a España will begin in Italy and move to France before going through Andorra and Spain.

Vuelta a España 2025 Prize Money?

Prize money for the 2025 Vuelta a España is thought to be worth approximately AUD$2,000,000 to be distributed across all teams involved. The winner will receive around AUD$268,000.

How To Bet On the 2025 Vuelta a España

To enjoy what’s being offered, simply head to the Sportsbet betting home page, look for the ‘Cycling’ category in the sports offered, and click on the 2025 Vuelta a España market. Once there, select the bet you want to make, add your stake, and then click ‘Place Bet’ at the bottom of the betting slip.

Vuelta a España 2025: Betting Preview

The absence of Tadej Pogačar and defending champion Primož Roglič means Jonas Vingegaard is the clear favourite to win the upcoming Grand Tour.

However, Juan Ayuso and João Almeida will be considered strong contenders to challenge him for the outright victory in the General Classification. Enric Mas Nicolau and Richard Carapaz are also thought to be dark horses in this year’s event. Ayuso and Carapaz have strong finishing abilities, which may offer value to bettors.

Of course, with Vingegaard having competed in the Tour de France last month, Ayuso may fancy his chances in his home event. He did not participate in the previous Grand Tour and has finished third and fourth in his last two Vuelta a España tours; in 2023, he won the Young Rider classification. Almedia is a dark horse, having DNF'd in the Tour de France and having the same outcome in last year’s Spanish Tour.

Indeed, the way the 2025 Vuelta a España is designed, it will suit Vingegaard. It features four flat stages, six medium mountain stages, five mountain stages, three hilly stages with high-altitude finishes, one individual time trial, and one team time trial; a distance of around 3,150 km will be covered.

Still, it will be the first time that he has competed in the Vuelta a España since 2023, where he finished second to American Sepp Kuss. He is a big outsider this year, after finishing 14th last year, but could still offer value in the race for the GC.
