Giro d'Italia 2026: Stage 10 Time Trial Betting Predictions
18/05/2026|Giovanni Angioni|Misc Tips & Predictions
Stage 10 of the 2026 Giro d'Italia is a time trial, with riders tested against the clock.
It is a 42.0 km individual time trial from Viareggio to Massa run along the exposed Tuscan coast, a course that heavily favours powerful time-trial specialists and strong rouleurs.
Stage 10 is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 19 (local time), and will see the specialists looking to push on and those in the GC looking to remain at the top of the leaderboard, despite it not being a stage typically suited to them.
It is considered the main time trial of the 2026 Giro.
Quick Picks
- Our pick: Ganna to win
- Value bet: Vingegaard to win
- Long shot: Segaert to win
Betting Preview
The Stage 10 route is almost entirely flat with minimal elevation gain (approximately 50 metres) and features a twisty opening section. It also features a long coastal straight that is very wind-exposed, and two late U-turns and 90-degree corners inside the final kilometre that reward perfect cornering and re-acceleration.
There are official time checks at about 16.7 km, 28.9 km and 38.4 km, which teams will use to judge pacing and splits.
The stage's wind conditions and start-time effects are the biggest wildcards that could create surprising time differences between early and late starters.
Betting Markets to Watch
When it comes to betting on Stage 10, it's worth noting that it may require a different strategy due to its demands.
The usual suspects that are leading the GC won't always be the best bet here, as the stage may not suit all of them.
Pure TT specialists are the most likely stage winners, while GC riders who can produce high sustained power will aim to limit losses rather than necessarily win, because losing a minute here would be decisive for the overall standings.
This would suggest there could be value in Filippo Ganna as the main favourite. Given his physiological profile, recent results, and proven record in similar coastal, flat time trials, these match this course perfectly.
He produces very high sustained power and exceptional aerodynamic position over long efforts.
He has repeatedly dominated short coastal time trials and won Giro time trials in the past, showing he can convert form into big margins on comparable routes.
Jonas Vingegaard hasn't been his best on this Tour, but he can't be counted out. He is capable of challenging in the TT, but it will require him to be much better than he has been recently.
Our Prediction
You can check out our latest cycling outright betting for this race.
Our prediction is that Ganna is the most likely winner of Stage 10.
Alec Segaert could be considered a long shot. He is a powerful, aerodynamic rouleur who has shown the ability to post very fast flat-TT times and surprise on long coastal courses.
If the wind is in his favour, he could challenge for a podium place.
