Royal Ascot 2025 Betting Preview: Predictions and Tips for the Big Races

One of the key dates in the global flat racing calendar, Royal Ascot brings together the best horses, jockeys, trainers and owners from the UK, Ireland farther afield together for five days of top action.

There’s 35 races on the card from Tuesday, June 17, to Saturday, June 21, with eight of those the most prestigious Group 1s. So who will land Royal Ascot’s most lucrative prizes?

Queen Anne Stakes (June 17, 23:30 pm AEST)

Rosallion has been installed as the favourite in the Royal Ascot betting odds for the Queen Anne Stakes, but he has already tasted defeat to two of the horses in this field – including Lead Artist back in May.

Trainer John Gosden has a fine record at Royal Ascot, so victory in the Lockinge Stakes for Lead Artist over Rosallion may just prove to be telling in the Queen Anne Stakes.

King Charles III Stakes (June 18, 00:40 am AEST)

Asfoora will be looking to defend his title in this five-furlong sprint, and his status as the second favourite this year may just play into his hooves.

Believing, the market leader, will be looking to overcome history that dictates that only three favourites have won the King Charles III Stakes in the past 20 years.

But Asfoora hasn’t run on UK soil in 2025 yet, so maybe the value is in Night Raider, a progressive sort who was a game third in the Clipper Stakes in May after six months off the track.

St James’s Palace Stakes (June 18, 01:20 am AEST)

The third of the Group 1s on the opening day is completed by the St James’s Palace Stakes, where Field of Gold is likely to go off as an odds-on favourite.

And why not? He won the Irish 2,000 Guineas by more than three lengths back in May.

Prince of Wales’s Stakes (June 19, 01:20 am AEST)

Los Angeles and Anmaat fought out a ferocious battle in the Curragh Gold Cup in May. And the duo is expected to lead the way in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes too.

It’s Los Angeles that’s the market favourite after his half-a-length success in Ireland, but punters might favour Anmaat, who beat his rival at Ascot in 2024.

Ascot Gold Cup (June 20, 01:20 am AEST)

Illinois is the favourite for the Ascot Gold Cup, although Aidan O’Brien’s horse is lightly raced and struggled home in a Group 3 last time out.

Candelari could be interesting if French form translates, while Trawlerman’s impressive win last time out at the right-handed Sandown certainly caught the eye.

Commonwealth Cup (June 21, 00:05 am AEST)

Shadow of Light will likely start favourite, although Babouche is hard to ignore following a classy Lacken Stakes victory at Naas in May.
