Goodwood Stewards Cup 2025 Betting Predictions

01/08/2025|SB Staff|Horse Racing Tips

The 2025 Goodwood Stewards’ Cup will take place on Saturday, being the premier race of the final day of the five-day festival.

It’s a race that will see a large field of 28 horses enter, making it one that can potentially offer bettors some exceptional value. Indeed, it’s worth staying up for on Sunday (01:05 AEST).

It’s a Class 2 race, with the winner set to receive a prize of £128,850 (AU$265,059). Of course, with the number of horses set to go to post, it’s a race that has become famous for its final stretch, with a cavalry-like charge.

Goodwood Stewards’ Cup 2025: Betting Preview

The Goodwood Stewards’ Cup 2025 race will be contested over a distance of six furlongs (1,200 metres). It is open to horses aged 3 years and older, and both sexes may run. It is worth noting that there have been some trends to have been experienced over the years:

Big weights: 7 of the last 10 winners carried more than 9 stone; 4 carried 9st 6lb or more

Wide open field: Winners have ranged from 4/1 favourites to 40/1 outsiders in recent years

Age: Winners aged 3 to 7 have made the frame; 8 of the last 12 winners were aged between 3 and 5

Goodwood Stewards’ Cup 2025: Betting Prediction

So, who are the current favourites in the betting odds for the Goodwood Stewards’ Cup 2025?

Well, there are a few contenders who are making many bettors take notice. Remember, with a field of up to 28, it might be worth placing an each-way bet on this race because of its unpredictability.

‘Elmonjed’ is seen as the leading favourite for the race, as he has strong season form. He finished first in his last race at York, before being second by one length at Windsor. Jim Crowley will ride the William Haggas-trained horse.

Elsewhere, ‘Hammer The Hammer’ is considered another leading candidate in the betting to win the race. The Kevin Ryan-trained horse, ridden by Tom Eaves, has also been in good form. He finished second at Ascot but was a winner by over four lengths at Chester. That was off the back of a win at Southwell, where he won by six lengths.

‘Completely Random’ and ‘Get It’ are both slight outsiders compared to those two, but have both been strong in recent meets. ‘Completely Random’ might be a little bit more of an outsider and potentially worth an each-way bet, as he has finished fifth in his last two races; ‘Get It’ has won his last two, but he will be tested as a 7 y/o in a field that will have significantly younger horses competing.
