The Festival is watched worldwide and takes place over a five-day period, with the event beginning on Tuesday, July 28, through to Saturday, August 1, although the racing will run into the early hours of Sunday morning (AEST).

Betting Preview
Each day has eight races scheduled except for Saturday, with one fewer, totalling 39 races:
- Tuesday - Goodwood Cup Day - Group 1 Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup
- Wednesday - Sussex Stakes Day - Group 1 Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes
- Thursday - Ladies' Day - The Markel Magnolia Cup & Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes
- Friday - King George Day - Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes
- Saturday - Stewards' Cup Day - The Coral Stewards’ Cup
The headline race is the Qatar Sussex Stakes on Wednesday, which is the richest race of the week and in 2026 has been boosted to £1.5 million (AU$2,863,822.50). Other major Group 1s across the week are the Goodwood Cup on Tuesday and the Nassau Stakes on Thursday.
The Stewards’ Cup on Saturday is usually a big betting event, as the race features a large field that competes over six furlongs in a handicap.
Betting Markets to Watch
The Goodwood Cup will see Scandinavia and Trawlerman renew their rivalry after meeting in the Ascot Gold Cup, with the former winning by a head.
Trawlerman ran well, as he entered that race without a prep run, whereas Scandinavia had. Scandinavia won this race last year, which is why he is the slight favourite.
The Sussex Stakes sees Bow Echo as the favourite; he is an unbeaten top-class miler, and the 3-year-old has the profile to win, having gone 5-for-5, including winning the 2000 Guineas and the St James’s Palace Stakes. However, with a deep field of experienced horses, there could be some outside value in the likes of Gstaad and Notable Speech.
Diamond Necklace is the big favourite in the Nassau Stakes due to form, but Estrange has value. Night Raider is the favourite in the King George Qatar Stakes due to being an established sprinter and has strong recent speed figures; Rumstar is a solid, proven older sprinter and has value to win.
In the Stewards’ Cup , Far Above Dream has been made the favourite as he brings the best mix of recent winning form, Goodwood experience, and handicap appeal.
He won three straight races before a strong 4th of 27 in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot, which can be big ahead of a big sprint handicap. He also has a solid record at Goodwood itself, including a win over 6f at Goodwood and another 6f success earlier in the season.
Our Prediction
Our main prediction is that Scandinavia will win the Goodwood Cup. We think there’s value in Bow Echo to win the Sussex Stakes.
A long shot is in the Stewards’ Cup race, with Dubai Bling offering value each way. He comes in as one of the most in-form sprinters in the field, and he won a strong race at Ascot recently.
