Warrnambool

Race 4 (3.00pm): Maiden Plate (1400m)

Future Monarch: Well-bred mare in the powerful Danny O’Brien stable. She resumed from a break with an eye-catching second behind Statesmanship at Geelong (1430m) on August 11, when she ran on strongly from ninth at the 400m. Another stride and she wins. She was narrowly beaten second-up at Ballarat in March. The best racing tip on the ‘Bool card.

Race 5 (3.30pm): BM58 Handicap (1400m)

Get In The Queue: The quirkily named galloper has had more trainers than jockey Damien Oliver has Caulfield Cups on his shelf. Also due to injury, Get In The Queue managed only 11 starts in his four years as a racehorse. However, two starts back, in September 2021, he finished fourth behind Group 1 star Mr Brightside at Flemington over 1630m when trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent jnr. That’s hot form. Now with Lindsey Smith, he recently won a Penshurst jump-out impressively and Tayla Childs takes 3kg off his 64kg impost. Get in the queue each-way punters.

Race 8 (5.00pm): BM58 Handicap (1200m)

Veloce Carro: Part of the strong Maher-Eustace stable and she will be a lot fitter for her first-up fourth at Moe (1000m) on August 13 when she ran on solidly. Fourth at Flemington (behind She Dances) and third (behind Tasman Park) at Sandown before that stacks up strongly for a racing tip in this class.

Coffs Harbour

Race 2 (1.55pm): Maiden Plate (1005m)

Amberina: Her two seconds at Wyong (1100m) in June and July were sound in stronger class than this, and then she led before finishing fourth over 1200m at Kembla Grange on July 20. No luck last start at Tuncurry when the smart Lounerse ran over the top of her. The 1000m suits and although she’s had 11 tries to win, she won’t get a better chance than this moderate field.

Race 5 (3.45pm): Benchmark 66 Handicap (1405m)

Extessive: This mare is a part of leading trainer Kris Lees’ Queensland stable. She has travelled south for this race after winning (coming from behind) at Doomben (1350m) and finishing a close third at the Sunshine Coast (1400m) in August, when she led. Before that she won at Scone (1400m). She’s very honest and jockey Andrew Mallyon knows her well.

Queanbeyan

Race 3 (2.10): Class 2 (1200m)

British Statesman: Comes off a sound fifth in an 1100m Highway at Randwick on August 19 after a torrid wide run where he was hunted forward from barrier 15. Back in the summer on firm tracks he won consecutive races at Bathurst (1200m/1100m) when he raced on the pace. The 1200m of this race will suit him and he drops a lot in class. Michael Heagney has won on him. The top racing tip at this meeting.

Race 7 (4.40pm): Class 1 (900m)

Manhattan Baby: The highest rated horse in this race. Trainer Marc Conners thought enough of her in the autumn to send her to Melbourne for a Stakes race after she was unlucky when fourth behind Captain Amelia at Kensington-Randwick (1000m). She broke her maiden last start when she tracked the speed over 1100m at Bathurst. Back in distance but good enough to win again.
