Betting Preview
The weather is going to be something the world’s best golfers will have to contend with, with likely winds.
The eastern Scottish coast's wind and fast‑changing conditions mean big swings in difficulty between morning and afternoon waves, making draw and tee‑time luck a real factor.
The course will be a semi‑links test that rewards elite tee‑to‑green control, flighting ability, and comfort on firm fescue grass with unpredictable Scottish weather.
It isn’t pure links, but it plays “linksy enough,” with breeze, visuals, and turf conditions similar to classic links, challenging players to produce.
There’s a little leeway for erroneous drives, but poor shots are often punished despite the lack of tightness and narrow fairways; missing in the wrong places brings fescue and awkward lies into play.
This is why there’s a consensus that the Genesis Scottish Open (a warm-up to The Open) suits players who excel at ball-striking, have proven experience in links-style golf, and have a strong iron game, especially given the several demanding par‑4s and long par‑3s.
Betting Markets to Watch
With many of the world’s top golfers scheduled to participate, including six of the top 10, there is a host of potential golf betting tips available for the upcoming Genesis Scottish Open.
Scottie Scheffler is considered a natural fit for this type of event due to his ball-striking ability and high‑floor performance, while he has typically done well at courses that are breezy and have approach‑heavy setups with large greens.
Rory McIlroy is a past Scottish Open winner and has been a runner-up before, while he has been in positive form across many other events. He didn’t have the best time at the US Open, but he did win The Masters earlier in the year.
Historically excellent in UK conditions and on links, Jon Rahm can combine power with a strong iron game and competitive toughness at this course, especially as he may feel motivated to impress after a difficult time.
Our Prediction

We think Scheffler is the most likely to win, as the world #1 looks to build on his playoff defeat in the Travelers Championship. He finished third in the 2023 edition, then tied for 8th in 2025 (didn’t play 2024).
Our long shot is Robert MacIntyre, as he has the profile to do well on this course. He won the 2024 Scottish Open and has numerous top finishes in this event. He's been up and down this season, but a return to his native Scotland could prove fruitful.
