The 2026 edition of the FedEx Cup Playoffs is the 20th edition of this tournament, having started in 2007.

And this exciting tournament sees the top 70 players from the FedEx Cup eligibility points list participate in a format that features three courses and an elimination process.

The tournament will begin on August 13 at TPC Southwind, Tennessee, with the FedEx St. Jude Championship. It then moves on to the BMW Championship at the Bellerive Country Club, Missouri, the following weekend. The finale is the TOUR Championship, which concludes in Atlanta at East Lake Golf Club between August 27 and 30.

The first event will see the top 70 players tee off, but the 20 players with the worst score over the four days will then be eliminated. That leaves the top 50 to head off to compete in St. Louis at the BMW Championship.

Another 20 will then be eliminated from this tournament, leaving just the best 30 players to battle it out in Atlanta for the FedEx Cup and a prize of AU$14.15 million from a total purse worth AU$56.6 million.

The first major challenge is at Memphis, Tennessee. Players who find themselves around roughly 35th and 55th will need to protect BMW qualification, while players who are safely inside the top 30 can be more aggressive, knowing one hot week likely seals East Lake.

It’s worth understanding that the format has changed in 2026. Season-long FedExCup position no longer gives anyone a score advantage at East Lake. Players used to start with starting strokes, such as the number 1 receiving a -10 handicap.

Now, all 30 qualifiers begin the TOUR Championship at even par and play a conventional 72-hole stroke-play tournament. Whoever posts the lowest four-round score wins both the TOUR Championship and the FedExCup.

Betting Markets to Watch

Scottie Scheffler is likely to be the main man to watch, given his form over the season. He has been the leader, scoring 4,123 points, 794 ahead of Englishman and No. 2 Matt Fitzpatrick . Cameron Young (3,157), Wyndham Clark (2,255) and Chris Gotterup (2,254) make up the top five in points.

Each of these could perform well in this tournament and will look to put pressure on the number 1, as will the likes of Rory McIlroy , who has made himself available after missing out last year.

The Northern Irish star heads into the tournament outside the top 10 and without a win since successfully defending the Masters. But, don’t discount him, as McIlroy has three top five finishes in eight starts at TPC Southwind and is chasing a record fourth FedExCup.

Last year’s winner, Tommy Fleetwood , could be worth another shot, as he is likely to have value. He is ninth on the rankings list, and his route is built more on peaking during the playoff run than protecting a points lead.

The FedEx St Jude Championship has a habit of throwing up some surprise winners. Justin Rose took the tournament last year, while Hideki Matsuyama, Lucas Glover, Will Zalatoris and Tony Finau won the previous four.

So, it wouldn’t come as a huge surprise if an outsider for the FedEx Cup makes a strong start. To that end, Colin Morikawa could be worth a look, with the American currently enjoying some super solid form in 2026.
