No rest for the weary as the Formula 1 circus moves from Zandvoort to Monza for the Italian Grand Prix.
The big news coming out of the Dutch Grand Prix was Lando Norris’ retirement, which gave winner Oscar Piastri a 34-point lead in the Driver’s standings.
It was also a horror weekend for Ferrari with both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc registering DNF’s.
Monza, of course, is the spiritual home of Ferrari so the red-clad tifosi will be looking for a better performance from their beloved team.
Leclerc has won at Monza twice and Hamilton a remarkable 5 times, but Lewis’ last win here was back in 2018.
Last week’s biggest surprise was Racing Bull’s Isack Hadjar finishing 3rd, his first-ever podium.
McLaren continue to run away with the Constructors’ championship, having built a massive 324-point lead over second place Ferrari.
Italian Grand Prix Betting Tips
Best Bet
Oscar Piastri $2.03 (Outright Betting)
Piastri’s price has been crunched after his win last week, but he should still be in a close battle with Norris. Oscar finished 2nd last year, behind Leclerc but ahead of Norris. He was 12th in 2023. Fun fact: Aussie Daniel Ricciardo won this race in 2021.
Next Best
Lando Norris $2.85 (Outright Betting)
It looks as if Norris won’t have to take a grid penalty after his mechanical failure in Zandvoort. So that means he’s back in the hunt for the top step of the podium. His price has blown out a bit, so you’ll definitely get more value this weekend.
Value Bet
Charles Leclerc $13 (Outright Betting)
There is some serious value here at a track where Leclerc has done very well recently. He won last year’s race (he also won in 2019) and finished 3rd in 2022 and 4th in 2021 and 2023. Expect a strong performance in front of the mad Ferrari fans at Monza.
Value + Bet
Yuki Tsunoda $7.00 (Not To be Classified)
Yes, this is a negative bet, but before you scoff at it, consider Tsunoda’s record at Monza. He’s raced 4 times at the circuit and has one DNF and, believe it or not, 2 DNS! The only Monza race he’s finished was 2022 where he ended up 14th.
