The 2025 F1 Drivers’ Championship race is really heating up, with Max Verstappen putting his name back into contention to win his fifth title.

His win at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in the US Grand Prix last weekend helped boost his chances. Lando Norris improved his own as he finished second, as Oscar Piastri’s lead at the top continues to be cut after a fifth-placed finish.

Now, they’ll head south of the border and to Mexico, where they will take to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in a race that will consist of 71 laps. Scheduled to start at 06:00 AEST on Monday, October 27, who will come out victorious in this one?

F1 Mexico Grand Prix 2025: Betting Preview

If there’s anything that the Mexico Grand Prix has been able to tell us, it is that it’s a track, like the US, that Verstappen tends to like. The Red Bull Racing driver has won three of the last four editions at the circuit, with Carlos Sainz Jr. winning for Ferrari last season. Now with Williams, he isn’t expected to challenge, but could anyone else give Verstappen something to worry about?

Norris finished second in 2024 behind Sainz Jr., having made his way through the field and overtaking Charles Leclerc late in the race. Piastri had finished 8th after starting deep in the field due to qualifying issues and early traffic. He later described the race as “a massive shame,” as he had to recover from the back.

When looking at recent racing form, the Dutchman is also looking fairly unstoppable as we enter the final five races of the 2025 F1 campaign:

US GP, Austin, Texas (21 Oct 2025): Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) won.

Singapore GP (5 Oct 2025): George Russell (Mercedes) won.

Azerbaijan GP (21 Sep 2025): Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) won.

Italian GP, Monza (7 Sep 2025): Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) won.

Belgian GP (31 Aug 2025): Oscar Piastri (McLaren) won.

F1 Mexico Grand Prix 2025: Betting Predictions

Unsurprisingly, the latest F1 Mexico Grand Prix 2025 betting odds have Verstappen as the favourite to win the race. Norris is slightly longer, with Piastri further back in the odds.

Still, we can’t see past it being the Dutchman. On top of his recent form and how well he is driving, Verstappen has won five of the past eight editions (2017, 2018, 2021–2023), which makes it hard to envision another driver having success in Mexico.

If you’re looking for value, the ‘Safety Car’ betting market may be of interest. There is value in the ‘No’ market because it doesn’t include the virtual safety car. Formula 1’s official data pegs the safety car probability at around 43%, and virtual safety car (VSC) at 86%, based on the last seven editions of the Mexican GP.
