It was almost two weeks ago that Prince Albert of Monaco sprayed champagne all over the podium as hometown hero Charles Leclerc celebrated his first ever win at the Monaco Grand Prix.
That result means two of the last three Formula 1 races have been won by drivers not named Max Verstappen and cars not sporting the Red Bull livery.
So, do we have a championship race on our hands? Well, maybe.
Verstappen has won the past two races at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, so we might see a return to normality this weekend.
On the other hand, the Ferrari and McLaren upgrades have clearly boosted performances, so we could be in for another fascinating race.
Like the past two races, there is some rain predicted, so make sure you check the forecast.
Canadian Grand Prix Betting Tips
Best Bet
Max Verstappen $1.67 (Fastest Qualifier)
Other than Monaco – a Qualifying outlier – Verstappen has been on pole for every race this year. If you think Max and Red Bull restore order in Montreal, then this might be the way to go.
Next Best
Max Verstappen to Win the Race & Charles Leclerc to Finish on the Podium $2.00 (BYO Sportsbet)
Essentially, you’re relying on Verstappen to get back on top and Leclerc to continue the form that has seen him on the podium in five of the eight races.
Value Bet
Charles Leclerc or Lando Norris to Win the Race $3.40 (BYO Sportsbet)
This bet saluted last week when Leclerc won in Monaco. As we’ve seen in the past month, both the Ferrari and McLaren upgrades have put them in a position to challenge Red Bull.
Piastri Bet
Piastri finished second in Monaco, which was set up beautifully by his strong qualifying. Canada is a different beast, however, so a podium in Montreal will be a bit trickier. Here are two options depending on how you feel about Oscar’s chances.
Ricciardo Bet
Daniel Ricciardo $2.50 (Points Finish)
This one still hasn’t delivered for us, but it’s still the best value when you consider the Yes To be Classified bet remains far too short ($1.11). It’s been awhile, but Ricciardo has had success at this track, finishing in the points from 2016 to 2019, with a third place in 2017.
Odds are subject to change.
