Long shot: Norris in the each-way
Betting Preview
It has been a few weeks since the Hungarian GP, where British driver Lando Norris claimed his first victory of a title-defending season in a year which hasn’t quite gone to plan for McLaren.
It was his third podium of the season, and puts him fifth in the leaderboard, 10 points behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
At the top, Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli continues to lead the way with 219 points after six wins and nine podiums.
Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton is second, but is some 50 points (169) behind the teenager, with George Russell a further nine behind his British compatriot in third.
It’s worth noting that there are additional points on offer in this race, with there being a Sprint race to contest on the Saturday.
Turning attention to the Dutch GP, Circuit Zandvoort is a 4.259 km, 14-turn, 72-lap rollercoaster through the North Sea dunes. It is narrow, undulating, fast, and pretty old-school, with limited runoff and a high risk of wind-blown sand cutting into grip.
It is a high-downforce, high-lateral-load circuit. Teams tend toward medium-to-high downforce, and the tyres take a sustained pounding through long loaded corners.
Overtaking is difficult, so qualifying and track position are super important here.
The overall winner of this race is likely to be one of those at the front of the grid following qualifying, with Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull all having the components needed to mount a challenge at this track, making this race really intriguing.
Betting Markets to Watch
Kimi Antonelli is leading the early betting odds as the favourite . He is definitely the form driver this season, with his last win coming at the Belgian GP. He also finished third in Hungary last time out.
Mercedes’ high-downforce form is an obvious fit for Zandvoort, which will only add further weight to Antonelli’s perceived chances as the favourite.
He has also been strong in qualifying, and with the track's format, if he manages to get pole, it’ll be hard for him to be beaten.
His main challenge is likely to be Lewis Hamilton ; Ferrari’s high-downforce concept is also expected to suit Zandvoort’s tight, banked layout.
The Brit has been at his best this year, but he’s going to need to have a strong qualification session if he is to mount a challenge.
Our Prediction
Check the latest F1 betting odds at Sportsbet.
Antonelli is our pick to be the likely winner . He’s the main man in F1 at the moment, and appears to have the best car that will be suited to the Dutch GP.
A long shot is for Norris in the each-way. He won in 2024 and won the last F1 race, but McLaren have struggled this season.
They have a car that can win, but a lot will need to go right for them to be successful.
