Barcelona-Catalunya GP F1 2026 Prediction

After a chaotic Monaco GP, the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix takes centre stage on the 2026 F1 race calendar.

The race is scheduled for Sunday, June 14, with the lights set to go out at 23:00 AEST.

Quick Picks

Our pick: Antonelli to win/each-way

Value bet: Russell to win/each-way

Long shot: Hamilton in the each-way

Betting Preview

Heading into the race, Kimi Antonelli, one of the youngest F1 drivers ever to lead a championship charge, and Mercedes will likely be feeling good about their chances.

The teenage Italian superstar has been tearing up the track wherever he has raced this season, winning five of the six races held so far.

His only non-first-place finish was in the opening GP of the season, in which his team-mate George Russell managed to win.

It was an impressive performance in Monaco last week, as he managed to navigate the tight street track across normal civilian roads to win. They used their car to full effect, despite Ferrari having entered it in a perceived better position.

Still, Barcelona-Catalunya will offer teams another challenge as the F1 season heads to Southern Europe.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya uses the classic all‑rounder layout: long main straight, fast T3/T9, and a more technical final sector that makes it a benchmark for overall car balance and tyre management

It tends to reward cars and drivers with strong high‑speed downforce, a good front end, and the ability to manage rear-tyre degradation over long stints, making tyre strategy in Formula 1 a key factor here.

Betting Markets to Watch

Given that the Barcelona-Catalunya GP is a race that often requires teams to produce a complete performance, it’s unsurprising that the two Mercedes drivers are leading the betting in the lead to the race.

Antonelli’s incredible start makes him the short favourite, with Russell slightly behind him. Mercedes have the fastest car and appear to have managed to get the new regs down perfectly.

This has been shown in their ability to be strong both on the straights and in the corners throughout the early stages of the season.

After a disastrous Monaco GP, Max Verstappen, one of the highest-paid F1 drivers on the grid, enters the race as the third favourite, with Lando Norris just behind him.

However, we think there’ll be value in the Ferrari pairing, especially in Lewis Hamilton . The Brit finished second in Monaco and Ferrari appears to have found a formula that they can work with in 2026 that has made them competitive.

Our Prediction

Our prediction is that Antonelli is likely to win . He has been exceptional all season, and doesn’t look to be fazed whenever he turns up at a race track. With Mercedes dominating, it’s hard to look elsewhere.

The long shot value is in Hamilton . As highlighted, Ferrari has started to find some rhythm and appears to have the next-best package for its cars after Mercedes. As an each-way, he offers plenty of value to finish on the podium after last week’s efforts.
