Betting Preview
The Aussies proved they are still the top ranked team in Test cricket with an emphatic victory over the number 2 ranked side in the 1st Test. A victory by 214 runs was recorded, with scores of 300+ in both innings.
Matt Renshaw was named player of the match after hitting 190 in the first innings and 82 in the second; both were Australia's highest scores. He contributed significantly to the 390 and 314/6 before declaring.
South Africa struggled with the bat, as only one player managed to score above 50 across the two innings. Aiden Markram hit 75 in their second-innings chase, having scored 37 in the first. David Bedingham hit 49 and 46, but team totals of 284 and 206 simply weren’t enough.
The Australians picked off the South African batters through Josh Hazelwood, who took eight wickets in the game for 103 runs. His best return was 6/49 in the second innings. Pat Cummins set the example as captain in the first innings, with 3/54.
Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon took two wickets in the first, with the former taking one more in the second. Lyon bowled the most overs in both innings, totalling 42.
For South Africa, Wiaan Mulder (4/68) and Marco Jansen (3/68) were the pick of the first innings, while Keshav Maharaj (2/56) and Anrich Nortje (2/56) were the pick of the second.
Mulder only bowled four overs in the second innings, having bowled 27 in the first; Simon Harmer took much of the load across both innings. Kagiso Rabada could be in line to play after missing the first due to a precaution.
Betting Markets to Watch
Australia are slight favourites in the Test cricket betting odds, with the price reflective of the most recent performance.
Although it’s unlikely that lightning will strike twice, Renshaw offers good value to be the top Australia Runscorer in the 1st Innings, having achieved it in both innings of the 1st Test (and by some distance).
Bedingham has outside value to do it for South Africa. Hazlewood has value to lead the wickets for Australia in the 1st after his eight in the previous Test. Rabada has value for South Africa if he plays, having taken nine wickets in the 2025 World Test Championship final.

A long shot we like is Steve Smith to be Player of the Match. He took five catches in the match and reclaimed his record for the most catches in Test cricket history, with 221 in 126 matches.
