New Zealand have largely enjoyed themselves against the West Indies on their tour of the island nation, but when it came to the most recent Test Series, the hosts were left feeling frustrated as they couldn’t get the victory.

Having won six of eight matches across the two limited-over formats played, the Kiwis were held to a draw after a superb unbeaten double century from Justin Greaves in Christchurch.

Will he produce the same heroics once again, or will NZ’s attack find their rhythm when they take to the pitch at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, with the first day of play on Wednesday, December 10, from 09:00 AEDT.

New Zealand vs West Indies 2nd Test Cricket Betting Preview

As noted in our 1st Test preview, New Zealand have won the four series played between these two nations since 2013/14. They’ve only lost one, and they’ll want to put themselves in a good position to keep that streak going in the second Test.

When looking at what happened in the first, they scored 231 in their first innings, with Kane Williamson scoring 52. Ojay Shields took two wickets for 34 in his debut for the West Indies. WI would be bowled out for 167, with Shai Hope scoring 56 as Jacob Duffy took five wickets for 34 runs.

In the second innings, the Kiwis would get to 466-8 before declaring. Rachin Ravindra would top-score with 176, while Tom Latham added 145. Kemar Roach took 5-78 in his first Test match since January. However, the West Indies would make the second-highest fourth-innings total in history when they scored 457-6 to draw the match.

Greaves would be unbeaten on 202, while Hope added 140 to score just under 200 runs across the Test match. Duffy took another three wickets, but finished with figures of 3-122.

New Zealand have been dealt a huge blow ahead of the two remaining Test matches, as four key players will be unavailable. Pacers Matt Henry (calf) and Nathan Smith (side) hurt themselves during the first Test and haven’t recovered in time, while all-rounder Mitchell Santner’s groin injury still remains an issue and will mean he will miss the Series. First-choice wicket keeper Tom Blundell is also out with a hamstring issue.

New Zealand vs West Indies 2nd Test Cricket Betting Predictions

The New Zealand vs West Indies 2nd Test Cricket betting odds have the hosts as the huge favourites to win this game, just as they were in the previous Test.

Despite all the injuries, we predict the Kiwis will win based on their record against WI over the years.

Again, there will be value in backing Kane Williamson or Tom Latham to be the highest run scorer. We expect them to be strong once again after positive scores in the first Test.
