New Zealand vs India 2nd ODI Prediction and Betting Odds

New Zealand vs India 2nd ODI Prediction and Odds

After a rain-impacted 1st ODI, New Zealand will aim to bounce back against India in the second of five ODIs in the series, which you can track in the One Day Internationals betting odds.

The Black Caps would finish with a paltry 185 all out from 40.2 overs, with the entire team struggling. India chased down 143 with five wickets remaining to win by the Duckworth-Lewis system (22.4 overs of 32).

The 2nd ODI will take place in Wellington, with the first ball at 13:00 AEDT.

Quick Picks

Our pick: India to win

Value bet: Singh as India’s leading wicket-taker

Long shot: Kohli to be Player of the Match

Betting Preview

For New Zealand, it was a poor performance. Tim Seifert led the team with a knock of 38 from 43 balls, while Blair Tickner (34 from 23) and Glenn Phillips (30 from 51) provided some support.

Daryl Mitchell was run out on 28 (41), but only Jacob Duffy (15*) joined them with a score above 9.

The Indian attack was dominant, with Arshdeep Singh taking 4/70, Gurnoor Brar 3/44, and Anshul Kamboj 2/22 from his 10 overs (which included two maidens). Kamboj was named Player of the Match.

That could easily have gone to Virat Kohli, though, as he led the charge in Auckland, scoring 74 from 51 balls, in a knock featuring 13 fours and one six.

Captain Shubman Gill also weighed in, scoring 37 from 55 balls (five fours), while Shreyas Iyer added a quick-fire 15 off 13 balls, hitting one four and one six.

Duffy was the pick of the bowlers for NZ, finishing with 4/49 from seven overs, including Kohli and Axar Patel in the same over.

Betting Markets to Watch

India’s performance in the first ODI and their dominance have them as the early favourite.

New Zealand’s aim will be to improve immediately, which could happen if Devon Conway and/or Matt Henry are available. They missed the 1st ODI after a training collision that left Conway with a concussion.

Mitchell is going to need to improve on his 28. He has scored 389 runs at an average of 97.25 across his five most recent ODIs.

Singh provides value to be India’s leading wicket-taker in the 2nd ODI. He took the most in the first game and took them throughout the innings.

Wellington’s conditions look favourable for Arshdeep Singh, particularly with the new ball, although the actual match-day surface could still change.

Arshdeep’s ability to move the ball both ways brings bowled and LBW dismissals into play, making him a tricky bowler to deal with in a potentially windy environment.

Kohli could be the leading runscorer for India once again. If Wellington offers similar bounce, he could do the same once again, as he did on Auckland’s quick, bouncy surface, where he timed the ball well, hitting 13 fours and a six and repeatedly punishing short bowling.

Our Prediction

We think India winning is the most likely outcome of the 2nd ODI.

Our long shot is for Kohli to be named Player of the Match; he was in contention to win it in the 1st and another strong batting performance could see him win it this time around.
