Nikita Tszyu vs Ben Mahoney Predictions

Match Betting Prediction

The market is firmly behind Tszyu, with many pundits predicting a KO or TKO for “The Nightmare.”

Sometimes however, heavy lies the crown and the younger Tszyu brother carries the family name and all the expectations that come with it.

At 28, he's developed into one of Australia's most exciting fighters, a relentless pressure machine who drags opponents into dark, uncomfortable places and keeps them there.

His calling card is the body attack. Tszyu methodically breaks opponents down from the inside out, using sustained punishment to the ribs and midsection to sap energy and set up the big shots upstairs.

He can be hit, though. That's not a secret. Tszyu's forward-pressing style means he absorbs shots, and against a sharp, disciplined counter-puncher, one wrong move and it could be lights out.

Still, with odds this short, the patriot in us can’t go against both an Aussie and the market.

Betting tip: Nikita Tszyu

Method of Victory Prediction

If Tszyu is to win as predicted, just how will that victory unfold? Well, it’s important to note that Nikita’s opponent here, Mahoney, is a polished boxer with an outstanding chin, excellent footwork, and the fight IQ to match. Oh yeah and he's never been stopped. Ever.

Still, there’s a first time for everything. Tszyu will want to smother, grind, and punish. He'll look to cut off the ring, work the body relentlessly, and make it a gruelling war of attrition.

His ideal night ends somewhere in the middle-to-late rounds when Mahoney's tank runs dry.

If the body work lands consistently over the first six rounds, Mahoney's legs will start to go, then Tszyu can look to close the show somewhere between rounds eight and eleven with a stoppage.

Betting tip: Nikita Tszyu via TKO

Will the Fight Go the Distance Prediction

If our prediction is to come to fruition, then no, this fight will not be going the distance. That doesn’t mean there isn’t merit to hedging your bets and backing the affirmative in this market, as both fighters are known for never surrendering.

The emotional temperature of the fight matters here. Tszyu is aggressive and can carry intensity throughout, but if Mahoney frustrates him and makes him feel like the pressure isn't working and things could get scrappy and an early surprising KO could materialise.

All in all, we’re standing by our original prediction of a Nikita TKO in the middle to late rounds.

Tszyu's body attack is a problem that Mahoney has no obvious solution to and sustained punishment to the ribs erodes even the best chins eventually.

Betting tip: Will the Fight go the Distance – No
