Jake Paul Unloads on Davis After Superfight Collapse

05/11/2025|Giovanni Angioni|Boxing News

Jake Paul hasn't held back after his scheduled showdown with Gervonta Davis fell apart, launching a blistering attack on the boxer following another run-in with the law.

Davis has been pulled from the bout, bringing an end to a matchup that divided opinion from the start. While plenty of fans weren't particularly excited about seeing the two face off, there was enough intrigue to generate buzz.

Paul's team had been preparing for this possibility, and now it's come to pass.

Paul Goes Nuclear on Social Media

The YouTuber turned boxer took to social media to unload on Davis, and he didn't mince words.

"Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage. Working with him is an absolute nightmare. The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations and lawsuits. If you support this man you support the most vile sin a man can commit," Paul wrote.

"I didn't want to give this woman abuser a platform to grow his fans and to grow his bank account. My company champions women. I'm so sorry to everyone involved. Mostly to the undercard fighters, to my team at MVP and to my team who worked so hard prepping for this fight. Sacrificing time with loved ones and kids just for this fool to lose his unintelligent mind again. It's scary that devilish men like this can rise to the top of culture and sports, including in positions of power.

"I hope you people moving forward look beyond his fake streetwear pieces 'SWAG' and search for something deeper to be a fan of."

'The Problem Child' Ready to Move On

Despite the setback, Paul made it clear he's not stepping away from competition. The 'Problem Child' has built a reputation for putting on unusual fights on major stages, with his bout against Mike Tyson being a prime example.

Paul appears determined to compete again before 2025 is out, ending his statement with a familiar refrain.

"As for me it's on to the next one as always. Anyone. Anytime. Any place."

The collapse of the Davis fight leaves questions about who Paul might face next, though his willingness to take on any opponent suggests another announcement could come soon. The undercard fighters who were set to feature on the bill will now need alternative arrangements, as will Paul's team at MVP who had invested significant time preparing for the contest.

Why the Paul vs Davis Fight Was Cancelled

Paul's Most Valuable Promotions Company announced on November 4 that the November 14 bout in Miami had been called off after a civil lawsuit was filed against Davis. The lawsuit involves domestic abuse allegations against the lightweight champion.

The fight had already been moved once, originally scheduled for Atlanta before relocating to Florida where it received sanctioning despite significant concerns about the weight difference between the two fighters. Paul usually competes at cruiserweight, roughly 50 pounds above the 135-pound limit where Davis holds his belt.

Paul's promotional team has reaffirmed their commitment to putting on another event before the end of 2025, with plans to headline on Netflix still intact.

"While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025," an MVP statement read. "Details regarding a new date, location, Jake's opponent, and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized."
