How to Watch Canelo Alvarez vs Christian Mbilli in Australia

Christian Mbilli has never lost in 30 professional fights, and on Saturday night in Riyadh he puts that record and his WBC super middleweight title on the line against the biggest name in the sport.

Canelo Alvarez hasn't fought since Terence Crawford took his belts in September 2025, so this is about as big a comeback fight as he could have picked.

The good news for Aussie fight fans is that the main event falls on Sunday morning, so you won't need to set a 3am alarm for this one.

Canelo vs Mbilli Fight Preview

Mbilli was born in Cameroon and fights out of Canada, and he's the kind of pressure fighter who makes opponents uncomfortable from the opening bell.

He won the interim WBC belt with a first round knockout of Maciej Sulecki in June 2025, then fought Lester Martinez to a split draw on the Canelo vs Crawford undercard in Las Vegas a few months later.

The WBC upgraded him to full champion in January 2026, so this is his first defence of the full title, and it doesn't get much bigger than Canelo.

Canelo is 36 now and has a lot to prove after Crawford outpointed him over 12 rounds in Las Vegas. He admitted his head wasn't in the right place before that fight, and he spent this camp in Spain working alongside Oleksandr Usyk's team.

He arrived in Riyadh on Monday saying he's rested and ready, and he knows another loss here would raise real questions about how much he has left.

The fight is going ahead despite the security situation in the region, with Saudi officials confirming it will run as planned even after other Riyadh Season events were postponed.

Canelo vs Mbilli Betting at Sportsbet

Canelo's name and experience at the top level have him at the shorter end of the market, but plenty of punters will be tempted by an unbeaten champion who has stopped 24 of his 29 victims.

Beyond the head to head, the method of victory, round betting and whether the fight goes the distance markets are all worth a look given Mbilli's power and Canelo's durability.
