Jake Paul "The Problem Child" Fighter Profile

11/12/2025|SB Staff|Boxer Profiles

Jake "The Problem Child" Paul is (probably) the most polarising figure in modern boxing and (surely) one of the biggest pay-per-view draws in the sport today.

The American social media star turned professional boxer has built a 12-1 record since making his boxing debut in 2020, defeating a mix of fellow influencers, retired MMA champions, and former boxing world champions along the way.

Paul first laced up the gloves in August 2018 in an amateur bout against Deji on the undercard of his brother Logan's fight with KSI. He turned professional in January 2020, defeating fellow YouTuber Ali Eson Gib in one round.

What started as a sideshow has since evolved into a legitimate boxing career that commands global attention and eight-figure purses.

Before entering the ring, Paul was already a household name - Vine made him famous, and then Disney Channel gave him an acting gig on Bizaardvark. By the time he started boxing, Paul already had over 20 million YouTube subscribers watching his every move.

The "Problem Child" nickname is not just a marketing gimmick. Paul built his early brand on controversy, pranks, and a deliberately antagonistic public persona.

That confrontational approach has translated very well into boxing promotion, as Paul understands the entertainment business better than most fighters, and he's used that knowledge to orchestrate some of the sport's most-watched events in recent years.

Jake Paul Fighter Profile

Paul's professional boxing record includes wins over former UFC champions Tyron Woodley (twice), Anderson Silva, and Ben Askren, as well as former UFC star Nate Diaz.

His only loss came against Tommy Fury in February 2023, a split decision defeat in Saudi Arabia.

His most high-profile bout came in November 2024 when he faced 58-year-old boxing legend Mike Tyson on Netflix. The event reportedly drew 60 million households worldwide, making it one of the most-watched boxing events in history. Paul won by unanimous decision over eight rounds.

In June 2025, Paul defeated former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr by unanimous decision over ten rounds. The win earned him a ranking with the WBA at cruiserweight, marking his first appearance in official boxing sanctioning body rankings.

Love him or hate him, Paul keeps getting better. His power is genuine, with seven of his twelve wins coming by knockout and that goes to show that the bloke can fight, his cardio holds up, and his power is real.

Critics point to the quality of his opposition, but Paul continues to seek out bigger names and tougher challenges.

Notable Fights

Paul's knockout victory over Tyron Woodley in their December 2021 rematch remains one of his most memorable performances. After winning a split decision in their first meeting, Paul ended the rematch emphatically with a devastating right hand in the sixth round that left Woodley unconscious before he hit the canvas.

His unanimous decision win over Anderson Silva in October 2022 was arguably his most impressive victory at the time. Silva, despite being 47 years old, was still considered a dangerous striker, and Paul outboxed the MMA legend over eight rounds.

The Tommy Fury loss in February 2023 was a reality check.

Fury, the younger half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, outworked Paul over eight rounds in a competitive fight. Paul has since gone 4-0, responding to the defeat with knockouts of Andre August (round one), Ryan Bourland (round one), Mike Perry (round six), and decisions over Tyson and Chavez Jr.

Jake Paul Stats

Name: Jake "The Problem Child" Paul

Date of Birth: 17/01/1997

Age: 28

Height: 6'1" (185cm)

Weight: 200-230lbs (91-104kg)

Reach: 76 inches (193cm)

Stance: Orthodox

Division: Cruiserweight/Heavyweight

Record: 12-1-0 (12 wins, 1 loss, 0 draws)

Pro Debut: 30/01/2020

Status: Active

From: Cleveland, Ohio, United States.

Fancy a flutter on Jake Paul's next bout?
