Sydney Swans vs Adelaide Crows Prediction | Round 12 2025

Sydney’s Saturday footy festival continues as the Swans host the Adelaide Crows at the SCG.

The Swans' stumbling and bumbling season continued last week as they fell to the Demons at the MCG. With that, slumping to 4-7 and losing touch with the top eight.

It continued the trend of team lifting win into a worrying loss which has become a thing for Dean Cox’s side over the past month and a bit of footy. The unavailability of stars through both injury and suspension has hurt their consistency and has been a major part of why the Swans have been so out of sorts so far this year.

The Crows got a go-ahead win over the Eagles last Sunday at the Adelaide Oval. It was competitive for a little bit before their stars did what they needed to do to adequately gap the game and ensure the four points were secured. The win took the Crows into the top four! A place they haven’t been since early 2018 before the whole ‘pre-season camp story’ really took hold over that footy club.

But thankfully, things are in much better shape at West Lakes these days as they continue to build towards a breakthrough finals campaign under Matthew Nicks.

The Swans will lose skipper Callum Mills to suspension, in a short-lived return to the senior side. They will get Justin McInerney and Lewis Melican back from suspension though, which does only slightly soften the blow. Sam Wicks will miss a few weeks after injuring his hamstring in the loss to Melbourne too.

Aaron Francis is due back this week, should he pass through concussion protocols, but Jack Buller must be getting close to a game after another six shots on goal in another big performance in the VFL.

For the Crows, it was another week with no major injuries. Tex Walker was a late scratching for the game against the Eagles and will surely come back for this one. Sam Berry impressed with a full game after finally shedding the subs vest. Sid Draper also impressed when he came on halfway through the third quarter. Charlie Edwards continues to impress in the SANFL, but the Crows team is pretty settled at the moment.

For the latest team news, analysis, odds, and betting tips, check out our Swans vs Crows prediction and preview below.

Sydney vs Adelaide Predicted Teams

Sydney Predicted Team List

B: Ben Paton, Lewis Melican, Nick Blakey

HB: Matt Roberts, Tom McCartin, Dane Rampe

C: Riley Bice, Isaac Heeney, Jake Lloyd

HF: Corey Warner, Joel Hamling, Braeden Campbell

F: Will Hayward, Aaron Francis, Caiden Cleary

Foll: Brodie Grundy, Chad Warner, James Rowbottom

Int: Ollie Florent, Angus Sheldrick, James Jordon, Jack Buller, Taylor Adams

Adelaide Predicted Team List

B: Josh Worrell, Jordan Butts, Rory Laird

HB: Max Michalanney, Mark Keane, Wayne Milera

C: Isaac Cumming, Jordan Dawson, Dan Curtin

HF: Ben Keays, Riley Thilthorpe, Josh Rachele

F: Alex Neal-Bullen, Taylor Walker, Darcy Fogarty

Foll: Reilly O’Brien, Izak Rankine, Jake Soligo

Int: Zac Taylor, James Peatling, Mitch Hinge, Sid Draper, Sam Berry

Sydney vs Adelaide Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Swans have dominated the head-to-head recently, winning the past six games against the Crows. Yes, it even includes that game when the goal umpire thought the ball hit the post but didn’t.

The Crows couldn’t get revenge last year at home while the Swans were in ‘beat everyone’ mode on its warpath through the start and middle of the home-and-away season last year, but now presents a chance to come to the SCG and try to find a win for the first time since 2019.

The Crows have made an art form this year of getting the ball from int-to-out of congestion and maintaining hold of the ball as they build up to a score. Ranked first in the league for kick retention.

The Crows are also the number-one team for scoring off turnovers, consistently punishing their opposition.

Melican being available again helps the Swans massively, against the dangerous trio of Thilthorpe, Fogarty, and Walker. One of Francis or Hamling might even be sent back for a bit of a chopout.

The Crows are the third-highest-scoring team in the competition. Their defence is still shaky and remains a question mark, ranking third for points against. But the Swans have struggled to score this year. They have only scored over 100 points in a game once this season - against the lowly North Melbourne back in Round 4.

It would be a really Sydney thing to bounce back and win this one, but we trust the Crows a bit more to get it done.

Betting tip: Crows

First Goal Prediction

Crows skipper Jordan Dawson is among the contenders for this year's Brownlow Medal. He’s been in sensational form this year.

Remember when he used to play for Sydney? Swans fans certainly do. We’re tipping he’ll remind them again about the quality they gave up (I know they didn’t want to lose him) by putting through the first goal.

Betting tip: Jordan Dawson

Most Disposals Prediction

After a few years of puddling around the midfield, Rory Laird has gone back to halfback and has gotten back to his ball-winning best.

He’s had some fruitful days against the Swans before too, averaging 32.2 disposals in his past five games against them.

We’re looking at him to go again.

Betting tip: Rory Laird 30 + disposals

Sydney Swans vs Adelaide Crows Match Details

Date: Saturday, May 31st

First Bounce: 7:35 PM, AEST

Location: SCG, Sydney

How to watch: Fox Footy/Kayo Sports
