St Kilda Saints vs Western Bulldogs Prediction - Round 14 2025

11/06/2025|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs kick off Round 14 action at Marvel Stadium.

It seems like just yesterday that these teams played each other… It was only eight weeks ago when they faced off, and now they’re doubling up.

The Saints are well-rested, coming off their bye, and are looking to hit the second half of the season with renewed vigor after securing a team-lifting win over the Demons in Alice Springs a couple of weeks ago.

At 5-7, they sit 12th on the ladder. They still have a fair way to go, but they’re close enough to shake things up and not have a line drawn through their season so far.

Standing in their way, however, is a Western Bulldogs team that suddenly finds itself in a fight to make the top eight. Earlier this season, the Dogs were considered premiership contenders, and many still believe they are, despite sitting in ninth place with a record of 6-6.

However, after a flat performance against the Hawks right after the bye, they find themselves a game outside the top eight, looking up at the teams above them, probably knowing they’re better than a handful of those teams.

They believe they’re on the right track, too, after re-signing coach Luke Beveridge this week, a great reward for his coaching efforts in the first half of the year.

It’s a special occasion for the Saints as well, with their superstar Jack Sinclair notching up his 200th game with the club.

The Saints will bolster their midfield this week, with Jack Macrae appearing set to return to the lineup following multiple weeks out after puncturing his lung. Mattaes Phillipou will need to pass a test after being subbed out last start in Alice Springs, and hard nut Liam Stocker is also a test.

The Dogs will see a massive inclusion in the form of Sam Darcy. The young spearhead has made an incredibly swift recovery from what looked like a season-ending knee injury (against the Saints just eight weeks ago) and will rejoin the Dogs' forward line.

St Kilda vs Western Bulldogs Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Dogs continued their stranglehold over the Saints with a commanding win eight weeks ago, extending their dominance to four wins from the past five matches and seven of the last 10.

Saints coach Ross Lyon even said he was wary of the Dogs being a team who have ‘smacked us’ in the past and should be breathing fire coming off their most disappointing loss of the season.

The Dogs were restricted to their lowest score of the year, courtesy of how much the Hawks suffocated their exits from halfback. Bailey Dale still got close to 30 touches, but was nowhere near as effective or damaging as he has been. It was a theme across the board for the Dogs on the night, going with an efficiency per inside 50 rating of just 44.2%.

The Dogs are now 1-6 against top-eight teams, but lucky for them, the Saints are not a top-eight team… and they have an average winning margin of 51.3 points.

We think that continues on Thursday night.

First Goal Prediction

Rhylee West went goalless for the first time since Round 1 against the Hawks. the 24-year-old son of a gun, who’s currently in All-Australian form kicked three goals the last time these sides met eight weeks ago.

We’re backing him to hit the board first this week.

Betting tip: Rhylee West

Most Disposals Prediction

Take your pick from the Dogs really. Richards, Bont, Treloar, Libba… All contenders. But We’re going with the guy who has been there all season and proving to be one of the best recruits of the year.

Matt Kennedy.
