The Sun is shining at the top of the AFL ladder.

Queensland footy is on fire. For the first time, the Suns have gotten through the first month of the season undefeated. History shows that every team achieving this feat has gone on to play finals.

They seemed to find another gear on Saturday in the Barossa. Dressed to impress in pink (which was so good it should become the Suns' new primary jumper), they broke the game open when it mattered against North Melbourne, continuing their strong start to the season.

They have another chance to extend their record-winning run this week as they head to their coach Damien Hardwick’s favorite place - Marvel Stadium- to meet his former side.

The Tigers, who have plummeted to where everyone thought they would spend most of the season, fought well against the Dockers for two and a half quarters but fell away as Freo pulled ahead to separate the game. Unfortunately, they have also started to run into some injuries, an issue that plagued them last season.

The Suns have shaken off the label of “terrible travelers” in recent times. They wouldn’t need to ask Mac Andrew twice about what happened the last time they played at Marvel Stadium, either.

Richmond vs Gold Coast Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Suns have had their way with the Tigers of late, winning the last five meetings between the two. In fact, the Tigers are the opponent that the Suns have had the most head-to-head success against in their history.

When you consider the contrasting form of the two sides, it should make the result of this one a foregone conclusion.

Richmond, to their credit, is staying in games for longer as they continue to address their slow starts to matches this season. But while they’re starting to overcome that, they must overcome another hoodoo this week. The Tigers have lost their past 11 games at Marvel Stadium, with their last victory at the ground coming nearly four years ago.

This match is also a reunion for former Tiger Daniel Rioli, who will come up against his old side for the first time. The three-time premiership Tiger has been instrumental for his new club as a driver of their ball movement off the half-back flank with fellow recruit John Noble; they drive the Suns forward.

Ben King had another low-possession but high-output day, kicking five goals from six disposals last week to take the lead at the top of the Coleman Medal race. He’ll get a golden opportunity here to extend the lead against either a younger Luke Trainor or an experienced but undersized Nathan Broad or Nick Vlaustin.

We’re all expecting the Suns to win here, but we’re looking for more signs of growth and maturity from this group. Come in and get the job done professionally.

It would be a win for the Tigers if they can cover the line.

First Goal Prediction

After a slightly delayed start to the season, the Suns forward is starting to hit his straps. Ainsworth finally hit the scoresheet last week to open his account for the year. He looms as a good option here to strike first.

Most Disposals Prediction

We mentioned him before and that it would be a big day for him coming up against his old side, but Daniel Rioli will no doubt want to turn it on against his old side.

The Suns do look for him and build from the back half. While his teammates might have to pass it back to him/ he might have to come up the ground a little to get some ball. He will see plenty of it.

Betting tip: Daniel Rioli 25 disposals
