This was always going to be a tough year for Richmond fans. Season 2025 was going to always be about giving signs of life and reasons for Tigers fans to believe in what the club was building.

They would have added to that and then some last Saturday afternoon when they took the fight up to the reigning premiers.

It would have buoyed the Tiger faithful and coach Adem Yze about his young squad, but he’d be turning his attention quickly to their next assignment in the uber consistent Fremantle Dockers.

The Dockers have righted the ship after a rocky start to the season, and squared the ledger at 2-2. A six-goal blitz before the main break set it up before they overcame a spate of injuries and the Bulldogs to get the job done.

As they prepare to meet in the Barossa on Sunday, And for the latest team news, analysis, odds and betting tips, check out our Tigers vs Dockers prediction and preview below.

Richmond Tigers vs Fremantle Dockers Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

After admittedly playing ‘vanilla’ football in the pre-season, Freo’s gameplan is starting to click into gear nicely.

Had it not been for a spate of second-half injuries, they might have really put the Bulldogs to the sword. In the end, it was a really gutsy victory for the crew in Purple, and it could be one to really set up their season.

They’d be loving what they’re seeing from their spearhead Josh Treacy up forward. 11 goals already for the season, it just gives the Freo engine room the impetus to move the ball up the field at speed and just get it to the big fella quickly.

That ball movement should only be enhanced with the inclusion of Hayden Young this week who should make his return from a hamstring injury. The Dockers will need to replace Luke Jackson but have the perfect replacement in Sean Darcy who also made his comeback from injury in the WAFL last week.

The Tiger cubs are showing strong signs of life.

It’s a young and inexperienced group, but the signs that they are gelling and playing as a team are all there. Which shows the spirit is building.

The spirit should be there again on Sunday, but I suspect it won’t be enough to overcome a Fremantle side that is building its way nicely and should handle the business professionally.

Plus, after the way last year's Gather Round match ended in controversial circumstances for the Dockers, they’ll be looking to put this one to bed early.

Betting tip: Fremantle

First Goal Prediction

It’s always a big day when you come up against your former club for the first time. That’s what awaits star Docker Shai Bolton on Sunday.

Just as he did plenty of times when he wore the yellow, we think he might kick the first one against his old side. The perfect nerve settler.

Betting tip: Shai Bolton

Most Disposals Prediction

Caleb Serong and Andy Brayshaw have been doing Caleb Serong and Andy Brayshaw things in the middle all season long for the Dockers.

But it’s the resurgence of the veteran Jaeger O’Meara who has caught our attention so far this season. Averaging 26 disposals per game and being the senior head.

After just 15 against the Dogs, he’s looking to keep his average up to keep up with the two young stars next to him.

Betting tip: Jaeger O’Meara 30+ disposals
