Has the Power been plugged back in at Alberton Oval?

Just when it looked like things were going to end rather meekly and quickly for Port Adelaide and Ken Hinkley, they went and turned their season around.

Impressive back-to-back wins against the Giants in Canberra and then last week against the Dees at Adelaide Oval, have seen them edge themselves back into finals contention.

At 6-7, they have a chance to square the ledger again as they host the Swans in what will be their second week in a row of three weeks at home.

The Swans are coming off a bye, but before that, got a desperately needed win over Richmond at the MCG to take something into the second half of the season. At 5-8, it’s getting desperate for last year’s Grand Finalists. They know that if they want to remain a puncher's chance at anything this season, they have to start stringing games and wins together.

It might be the perfect storm as the cavalry is coming for the Swans. All eyes are on star duo Errol Gulden and Tom Papley, who will both need to pass fitness tests to be cleared to play.

Forward Joel Amartey is set to return from suspension and rising defender Matt Roberts is also set to be available after missing last start through illness.

At the Power, Things are settled, but they will need to make at least one change with Brownlow Medallist Ollie Wines hurting his knee against the Dees and will miss a couple of weeks. Key defender Aliir Aliir will need to be tested after finishing the game last week on the bench with a knee complaint.

The Power have already gotten one over the Swans this year, away at the SCG, and memories will no doubt resurface of their last meeting at Adelaide Oval at the end of last year, which ended in a 112-point win to the Power over the eventual Grand Finalists.

For the latest team news, analysis, odds, and betting tips, check out our Power vs Swans prediction and preview below.

Port Adelaide vs Sydney Predicted Teams

Port Adelaide Predicted Team List

B: Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Esava Ratugolea, Miles Bergman

HB: Kane Farrell, Ryan Burton, Connor Rozee

C: Jase Burgoyne, Willem Drew, Josh Sinn

HF: Darcy Byrne-Jones, Jeremy Finlayson, Sam Powell-Pepper

F: Willie Rioli, Mitch Georgiades, Joe Richards

Foll: Dante Visentini, Zak Butters, Jason Horne-Francis

Int: Jackson Mead, Mani Liddy, Hugh Jackson, Logan Evans, Travis Boak

Sydney Predicted Team List

B: Dane Rampe, Tom McCartin, Nick Blakey

HB: Jake Lloyd, Lewis Melican, Sam Wicks

C: Errol Gulden, Callum Mills, Justin McInerney

HF: Braeden Campbell, Will Hayward, James Jordon

F: Aaron Francis, Hayden McLean, Tom Papley

Foll: Brodie Grundy, Chad Warner, Isaac Heeney

Int: James Rowbottom, Harry Cunningham, Riley Bice, Corey Warner, Angus Sheldrick

Port Adelaide vs Sydney Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Port Adelaide has dominated the Swans recently, winning nine of the past 10 head-to-head battles.

Even if the one Swans win in the stretch would be the one that would have meant the most (last year's Preliminary Final), it’s a remarkable stronghold over a perennially strong football club.

The Swans have struggled to get their ball movement and bounce off halfback going this year, mainly due to the constant shifting around of All-Australian rebounder Nick Blakey who has had to fill multiple roles instead of doing what he’s good at.

His last game against the Tigers was a step in the right direction though, claiming a career-high 34 disposals and getting back to his one wood. With Gulden and Amartey set to return, plugging key holes that Blakey had been filling on occasion, It presents the chance for the Swans to get their bounce back.

Port Adelaide is ranked 14th in the competition for defending ball movement and 13th for conceding points off turnovers, which could be the door that the Swans look to pry open.

With that said, we still don’t trust the Swans, and the Power look like they’ve turned the coroner in recent weeks. Mitch Georgiades is coming off a career-best seven-goal haul and looks like he will be a handful for whoever gets the task on him.

Port fans will be out in force knowing that if they can get over the line here, everything is back on the table.

Betting tip: Power.

First Goal Prediction

Swans forward Will Hayward has remained consistent despite his side’s rollercoaster season.

The 26-year-old has 17 goals from 13 games this season, averaging 1.3 goals per game. A native South Aussie, we’re looking for him to get his side off to the perfect start in front of his friends and family.

Betting tip: Will Hayward.

Most Disposals Prediction

Jason Horne-Francis returned with a bang last week. Three weeks off with a hamstring injury? No worries… I’ll just go out and get 29 on return he said.

With Ollie Wines set to miss, there will be more time for him in the middle of the ground as he fills the role. We’re tipping him for most disposals in a best-on-ground display.

Betting tip: Jason Horne-Francis 30+ disposals.

Port Adelaide Power vs Sydney Swans Match Details

Date: Saturday, June 21, 2025.

First Bounce: 4:15pm AEST.

Location: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide.

How to watch: Fox Footy/Kayo Sports.
