Port Adelaide Power vs Melbourne Demons Prediction - Round 14 2025

Sunday footy begins at the Adelaide Oval with Port Adelaide hosting Melbourne.

It’s a game that will not have any direct effect on the top eight or any team's finals chances, but a loss could permanently end a team's hopes of making a run for it.

The Power snapped a four-match losing streak last Saturday in the nation's capital, taking advantage of a faltering GWS Giants side. At 5-7, they are one of five teams sitting on five wins, a couple of victories outside the top eight. While their finals hopes are fading, a flickering light remains at Alberton for Kenny in his final year as coach.

The Dees came oh-so-close to defeating Collingwood on Kings' Birthday, but the Pies did what they do best. Yes, the story has focused on Steven May criticizing his skipper Max Gawn for his errant kick with 30 seconds remaining, but the Dees, at 5-8, are still very much in the hunt this season after that performance.

They need to win games, however. They travel to Adelaide, a place where they have an inconsistent record, but it’s a ground that doesn’t intimidate them. Against a vulnerable Port Adelaide team, they would fancy their chances.

The Dees are riding a wave of happiness this week after livewire Kysiah Pickett pledged his future to the club, signing a whopping NINE-year contract extension and putting to rest any speculation about his rumoured departure at the end of the year.

On the selection front, The Power will receive a significant boost in the form of Jason Horne-Francis, who has recovered from a hamstring injury. Regular starters Lachie Jones and Jack Lukosius are still a few weeks away.

While young ruck Dante Visentini is holding his own, keeping the likes of Jordon Sweet and Ivan Soldo out of the team, he faces his stiffest test yet this week in the form of Max Gawn and could either be replaced or have reinforcements called in to aid him. Especially considering how the Power have gone after Max in the past.

For the Dees, vice-captain Jack Viney could finally make his return after over a month on the sidelines due to both a concussion and a fractured hand.

For the latest team news, analysis, odds, and betting tips, check out our Power vs Dees prediction and preview below.

Port Adelaide vs Melbourne Predicted Teams

Port Adelaide Predicted Team List

B: Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Esava Ratugolea, Miles Bergman

HB: Connor Rozee, Aliir Aliir, Kane Farrell

C: Josh Sinn, Willem Drew, Jase Burgoyne

HF: Darcy Byrne-Jones, Jeremy Finlayson, Jackson Mead

F: Willie Rioli, Mitch Georgiades, Sam Powell-Pepper

Foll: Dante Visentini, Jason Horne-Francis, Zak Butters

Int: Ryan Burton, Hugo Jackson, Joe Richards, Ollie Wines, Travis Boak

Melbourne Predicted Team List

B: Christian Salem, Steven May, Judd McVee

HB: Jake Bowey, Daniel Turner, Jake Lever

C: Ed Langdon, Trent Rivers, Kade Chandler

HF: Christian Petracca, Bayley Fritsch, Tom Sparrow

F: Jake Melksham, Harrison Petty, Kysaiah Pickett

Foll: Max Gawn, Clayton Oliver, Jack Viney

Int: Harvey Langford, Xavier Lindsay, Jacob van Rooyen, Caleb Windsor, Koltyn Tholstrup

Port Adelaide vs Melbourne Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Not only are these sides evenly matched on-field with their exploits thus far in 2025, but their head-to-head battles have reflected that too, with five wins each over the last 10 games.

These two sides have LOVED a close finish in recent times too, with the last four games being decided by an average of 6.25 points. So we’re crossing our fingers we get a repeat of that this time around.

Both these sides have been incredibly hard to get a read on this year. Both are ranked mid-table for offence and defence as an overall profile, but both teams have game breakers (Butters, Rozee & Horne-Francis on one side and (Gawn, Pickett & Petracca on the other) who can step up and separate the game at any moment.

It’s a flip of the coin match for tipsters and punters, but the Power have won their past 17 day matches at Adelaide Oval. It’s enough for us to go with the home side.

Betting tip: Power

First Goal Prediction

It was the return to form that Bayley Fritsch badly needed on Kings' Birthday.

After spending some time in the reserves earlier this season, the sharpshooter was back doing the thing he does best last Monday at the MCG - kicking straight and scoring goals.

With a little bit of momentum behind him now with six goals from his past three games, we’re backing him to open the scoring for the Dees.

Betting tip: Bayley Fritsch

Most Disposals Prediction

There’s been plenty spoken about Miles Bergman this year, mainly surrounding where he will be playing next year and in years to come. But the rebounding defender has elevated his game to become more damaging.

In Horne-Francis’ absence, he has spent some time on the ball, which has given the Power midfield a slightly different look. It worked positively on Saturday night. We think, despite the Hornet’s imminent return to the lineup, that Bergman could keep his midfield minutes and get quite a bit of the ball.

Betting tip: Miles Bergman 25+ disposals

Port Adelaide Power vs Melbourne Demons Match Details

Date: Sunday, June 14, 2025

First Bounce: 3:20 PM, AEST

Location: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

How to watch: Channel 7, Fox Footy/ Kayo Sports
